Journal ArticleDOI

XAFS spectroscopy; fundamental principles and data analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the physical principles of XAFS spectroscopy are given at a sufficiently basic level to enable scientists working in the field of catalysis to critically evaluate articles dealing with X-AFS studies on catalytic materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface oxidation of carbon nanofibres

TL;DR: Oxidation in a mixture of concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids proved to be the most effective method for creating oxygen-containing surface groups in carbon nanofibres of the fishbone and parallel types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation of Highly Dispersed Pt Particles in Zeolite Y with a Narrow Particle Size Distribution : Characterization by Hydrogen Chemisorption, TEM, EXAFS Spectroscopy, and Particle Modeling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a very low heating rate of 0.2°C/min to obtain particles with an EXAFS Pt-Pt coordination number of 5-6, i.e., particles of 13-20 atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zeolite Beta: The Relationship Between Calcination Procedure, Aluminum Configuration and Lewis Acidity

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of (hydro)thermal treatments on the catalytic activity of zeolite Beta in the Lewis acid-catalyzed Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduction of ketones was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in Structural and Electronic Properties of the Zeolite Framework Induced by Extraframework Al and La in H-USY and La(x)NaY: A 29Si and 27Al MAS NMR and 27Al MQ MAS NMR Study

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that highly charged octahedrally coordinated extra-framework Al causes a polarization inducing a quadrupolar broadening of part of the framework Al in ultrastable Y. Assignment of the different types of Al coordinations has been done using the results of the MQ MAS experiments.
