Journal ArticleDOI

Parathyroid extract effects on phosphorus metabolism in Rana pipiens.

TL;DR: It is clear that parathormone reverses these cold-induced modifications of phosphorus metabolism, which may provide a rationale for the previously observed degeneration of amphibian parathyroid glands in winter, the increased sensitivity of cold-acclimated frogs to hormone, and the apparent discrepancy between heterotherms and the homoiothermic mammal with respect to parathormanone-induced changes in phosphorus distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of parathyroid extract on blood and urine mineral levels in iguanid lizards

TL;DR: A marked decrease in urine pellet weight was noted in PTE-treated lizards, while control animals kept in the laboratory a comparable length of time showed little fluctuation in quantity of excreted urine.
