Three isomorphous compounds M(CHOO)3[NH2(CH3)2] (M = Mn(1·Mn), Co(2·Co), Ni(3·Ni)) have been synthesized in solvothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction shows that they are all crystallized in the trigonal space group R 3c with small differences in the lattice parameters. Bridged by the three-atom single-bridge CHOO-, M ions form a three-dimensional distorted perovskite-like structure with dimethylamine (DMA) cations located in the cages of the network. Based on the magnetic data, these three 3D compounds are weak ferromagnets with the critical temperature Tc = 8.5 K (1·Mn), 14.9 K (2·Co), and 35.6 K (3·Ni), and for 2·Co and 3·Ni, spin reorientation might take place at 13.1 and 14.3 K, respectively. At 1.8 K, hysteresis loops can be observed for all three compounds with the coercivity field ca. 90 Oe (1·Mn), 920 Oe (2·Co), and 320 Oe (3·Ni). Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the compensation effect in heterogeneous catalysis that expresses the existence of interrelated kinetic behavior within a group of rate processes. The chapter focuses on the interrelation between kinetic characteristics and the chemistry of the participating surface rate processes. The chapter discusses the theoretical models and statistical methods used in the recognition of compensation phenomena. The chapter illustrates reported examples of compensation behavior and describes new instances of the effect that became apparent while making the present search of published kinetic data. A semiquantitative statistical analysis of these trends has been undertaken to provide a common basis for comparisons and to attempt to define criteria that enable meaningful relationships to be recognized. The compensation effect remains largely an empirical method of classifying kinetic observations and this has not been developed into a theoretical representation capable of predicting activities and patterns of reactivity in hitherto untested catalytic processes. Development of the usefulness of the correlation necessarily requires reexamination of many of the basic tenets of heterogeneous kinetic behavior.

Compensation Effect in Heterogeneous Catalysis

We report a novel method for the synthesis of a self-reducible (thermally reducible without a reducing atmosphere) and alcohol-soluble copper-based metal–organic decomposition (MOD) ink for printed electronics. Alcohol-solvent-based conductive inks are necessary for commercial printing processes such as reverse offset printing. We selected copper(II) formate as a precursor and alkanolamine (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) as a ligand to make an alcohol-solvent-based conductive ink and to assist in the reduction reaction of copper(II) formate. In addition, a co-complexing agent (octylamine) and a sintering helper (hexanoic acid) were introduced to improve the metallic copper film. The specific resistivity of copper-based MOD ink (Cuf-AMP-OH ink) after heat treatment at 350 °C is 9.46 μΩ·cm, which is 5.5 times higher than the specific resistivity of bulk copper. A simple stamping transfer was conducted to demonstrate the potential of our ink for commercial printing processes.
