Λ-N residual interaction and Λ16O hypernucleus

Hypernuclei are nuclei in which at least one of the nuclear constituents is a hyperon, namely a baryon heavier than a nucleon and having a nonzero value of strangeness. In this review, discussion is limited to the study of Λ-hypernuclei Λ A Z, where Z denotes the number of protons, Λ means that there is one Λ-hyperon (M = 1115 MeV, J π , = ½ +, I = 0, S = -1), and Λ is the total number of baryons (protons + neutrons + lambda). Double A-hypernuclei ΛΛ A Z, containing two lambdas, have been shown to exist in a stable form for at least two species. However, experimental data for these exciting species is severely restricted at present to ground-state binding energies and we shall not discuss them thoroughly here.
