Journal ArticleDOI

Chemioselectivity in the catalytic hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde. Effect of metal particle morphology

TL;DR: The selectivity of platinum and rhodium catalysts for the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde into Cinnamyl alcohol is much higher on large, faceted metal particles than on small (<3 nm) particles as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition and catalytic properties in cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation of charcoal-supported, platinum catalysts modified by FeCl2 additives

TL;DR: In this paper, the activity and selectivity of platinum for liquid-phase hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde into Cinnamyl alcohol are improved by adding FeCl2 to the reaction medium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemioselectivity in cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation induced by shape selectivity effects in Pt-Y zeolite catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that platinum and rhodium particles encapsulated in Y-type zeolite are much more selective for the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to cinnamide than active charcoal-supported platinum and Rhodium catalysts, interpreted in terms of molecular constraints in the micropores which favour an end-on adsorption of the molecule via the C = O group on the encapsulated metal.
