A large number of 5-nitro-, 6-nitro-, 5-chloro-, and 6-bromo-2-aminobenzoxazoles were synthesized by the reaction of benzoxazoline-2-thiones with various amines. It was shown by IR spectroscopy that all of the compounds exist in the amino form in solution, whereas the 5-substituted compounds exist in the imino form in the solid state, and the 6-substituted compounds exist simultaneously in the two forms.

2-Aminooxazoles and their derivatives (review)

Hydroxyphenylthioureas were obtained by the reaction of nitro, chloro, bromo, or amino derivatives of benzoxazoline-2-thiones with primary amines. If the substituent in the benzene ring is a nitro group, the reaction with certain secondary amines proceeds with the production of trisubstituted thioureas. It is shown that electron-acceptor substituents in the 5 and 6 positions of the benzene ring facilitate this reaction.

Reaction of some benzoxazoline-2-thione derivatives with amines

The kinetics of the interaction of butylamine with 5- and 6-substituted benzoxazoline-2-thiones has shown the absence of a correlation between the rate of the reaction and the electronic properties of the substituents. Thus, the mechanism of the nucleophilic opening of the benzoxazoline-2-thione ring differs from those described previously.

A study of the kinetics of the interaction of benzoxazoline-2-thiones with butylamine

5-Methyl-3H-oxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thione, which exists in the dipolar form, was obtained by the reaction of 6-methyl-2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine with potassium ethylxanthate. The reaction of the product with amines leads to the corresponding thioureas.
