The Living House: An Anthropology of Architecture in South-East Asia.

The character education implementation in every school becomes a program of national education system policy in Indonesia. Its orientation is more focused on advancing national character development based on local wisdom and unique culture in Indonesia. The authority of the Indonesian education system policy program in strengthening character education covers religiousness, nationalism, independency, mutual cooperation, and integrity with the development of local wisdom-based learning materials. The purpose of this research is to discover the process of dance learning implementation in students’ character education development. This research employs quantitative with descriptive statistics data analysis. The data were collected through an observation of 22 primary school students during a dance learning process and in-depth interviews to two dance teachers to obtain data regarding local wisdom-based dance learning implementation to develop students’ characters. The findings show that character education developed in local wisdom-based dance learning can be done through various learning activities such as appreciation and introduction of traditional dance materials, instilling values, independent and group study to build independency and mutual cooperation, and familiarize students to pray before and after learning. These are to plant local wisdom values through dance movement learning.

Local Wisdom-Based Dance Learning: Teaching Characters to Children through Movements.

Local wisdom of Sasak society is a system of life and values of the Sasak ethnic group, since the past, has proven to give meaning if applied teguq, tuhu, bender and trasna in society. The value of local wisdom is supported by the existence of awik-awik or dynamic customary rules. Awik-awik contains contextual values according to the region of each region which is related in science learning of elementary school students. Through qualitative methods and literature reviews, the author tries to explore the reflection of the value of local wisdom in learning science. In awik-awik the characteristics of science / science are reflected in the form of products, processes and attitudes. Linking awik-awik in learning science aims to instill a sense of love for the noble values of culture and students get real learning experiences and their surroundings. This is expected to motivate teachers to implement it in the design of learning in schools

Refleksi Nilai Kearifan Lokal (Local Wisdom) dalam Pembelajaran Sains Sekolah Dasar: Literature Review

One of the existing natural and environmental uses in Aceh (Indonesia) is tourism. Among the aspects that determine the development and sustainability of tourism are the institutional and community aspects. Sustainable tourism is a picture of both the ecosystem sustainability and socio-economic development of the community. This study aims to reveal and find out the local wisdom practices and explore local knowledge owned by Sabang Island community in managing and conserving of the environment to support the realization of sustainable tourism. This study uses rationalistic paradigm and qualitative research method. The data that has been collected is analyzed descriptively. The local wisdom and local knowledge are reflected in how society has a unique way of looking at and understanding of the nature and interacting with it. In the Aceh community, there are customary institutions that regulate the rules or interactions of the community with the environment, including “panglima laot”, “keujreun blang”, “peutua seuneubok”, “pawang glee or peutua uteun”, “haria peukan” and “syahbanda”. Local wisdom and local knowledge have great potential in maintaining, preserving and sustainability of the environment used by communities to meet their living needs. Ecological, social, and religious intelligence formed through local wisdom and local knowledge are the functional aspects in maintaining environmental sustainability in order to build sustainable tourism on Sabang Island.

Local wisdom of sabang island society (aceh, indonesia) in building ecological intelligence to support sustainable tourism

This study aimed to explain the synthesis design approach of the architectural expression in the Town Hall building of Kupang city. This is necessary due to the need for Town Halls, as public facilities, to reflect technically correct building standards, environment, and the aspects of political symbolism. Kupang Town Hall design uses the roof image expression of the Timor, Flores, and Sumba ethnic architecture in a harmonious composition and this means it is an example of an ethnic architectural synthesis in a modern building which represents a function, meaning, modernity, and local cultural identity. This research employed the social semiotics method to examine the design in relation to the surrounding social life context and the design was found to be produced from the symbolic regionalism approach which involved mixing the architectural images of Timorese, Flores, and Sumba ethnicities to modernize and conserve ethnic architecture and represent the cultural identity of East Nusa Tenggara. This, therefore, means architectural synthesis methods which are established on the symbolic regionalism approach have the potential to be used in designing public facilities in different places of Indonesia to reveal local cultural identities in modern buildings through symbolism based on an ethnic architectural image.

The Symbolic Regionalism on The Architectural Expression Design of Kupang Town-Hall

Local wisdom meansharmonious relationship between man, nature and the built environment in an area that is also influenced by its culture. The phenomenon of globalization and modernization makes the architecture more universal and creates cultural homogeneity. With globalization, the existence of local knowledge may be questioned, especially in built environment as a result of human culture. Therefore, this study aims to assess the local wisdom in built environment in the era of globalization. Method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method through literature study related to the context of local wisdom. From this research,result showed thatlocal wisdom on the built environment in globalization era, changing with the development of technology and communications. Changes occur in the pattern of space and building elements, but the meaning contained in the building as a form of local wisdomis maintained. In the era of globalization, a blend of cultures will occur. In this case, local wisdomcan keep up with technology in a way taking into account the local character, the climate and natural conditions in the built environment.

Local wisdom inbuilt environment in globalization era

School children is one of the communities at risk of being exposed to Covid-19 because they spend a lot of time in school with the implementation of clean and healthy living is still low. Children can be asymptomatic carriers and play a role in the spread of the Covid-19 community. The main key in combating the spread of Covid-19 in children is the application of clean and healthy living behavior. School-age children are easily motivated and their competence is improved, covering aspects of knowledge, attitudes and behavior in the health sector by providing education. Three-dimensional media can be used as a learning media in providing knowledge about clean and healthy behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of three-dimensional learning media innovations on empowering clean and healthy living behavior for elementary school children during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used quasi-experimental design with one group pre-posttest, conducted in public elementary school number 43 Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra. A sample of 30 students in sixth grade elementary school was selected by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using pair t-test. The findings show that most of respondents are female (56,67%). Most of students’ knowledge before giving health education was in the low category (53,33%) and increased after given health education (60%).
