A method and system for streaming multimedia content in a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Display (WFD) network environment are provided. The method includes establishing a Wi-Fi display session with at least one Wi-Fi sink device by a Wi-Fi source device prior to capability negotiation with the at least one Wi-Fi sink device; streaming multimedia content to the at least one Wi-Fi sink device using a basic codec format during the Wi-Fi display session; performing capability negotiation with the at least one Wi-Fi sink device substantially simultaneously with streaming the multimedia content using the basic codec format during the Wi-Fi display session; and seamlessly continuing to stream the multimedia content to the at least one Wi-Fi sink device using a codec format negotiated during the capability negotiation.

Method and system for streaming multimedia content in a wireless fidelity display network environment

Techniques are disclosed for increasing the reliability of transferring data via in-band signaling in a audio channel of a communication network. Techniques include causing an audio decoding process to modify the decoding of audio signals for the audio channel based on obtaining an indication of in-band signaling. The modified decoding may replace an adaptive de-jitter buffer by a static de-jitter buffer or increase the buffering time of an adaptive de-jitter buffer. The decoded audio signals may be provided to an in-band message detector, an audio encoder or an audio playback device based on the indication of in-band signaling. The techniques may be employed by a user equipment, a media gateway control function or a media gateway to improve the reliability of in-band transfer of a minimum set of data (MSD) for a Next Generation eCall.

Enhanced fallback to in-band mode for emergency calling

In some embodiments, a method for preparing monophonic audio for transmission to a node of a teleconferencing system, including steps of generating a monophonic mixed audio signal, including by a mixing a metadata signal (e.g., a tone) with monophonic audio indicative of speech by a currently dominant participant in a teleconference, and encoding the mixed audio signal for transmission, where the metadata signal is indicative of an apparent source position for the currently dominant conference participant. Other embodiments include steps of decoding such a transmitted encoded signal to determine the monophonic mixed audio signal, identifying the metadata signal, and determining the apparent source position corresponding to the currently dominant participant from the metadata signal. Other aspects are systems configured to perform any embodiment of the method or steps thereof.

Teleconferencing using monophonic audio mixed with positional metadata

An IMS node 310 relates to a communication node that, upon handover of one of two terminals communicating in a first network to a second network different from the first network, determines a codec and a codec mode that are to be used by the two terminals. A determination unit 506 establishes, as the codec and codec mode to be used by the two terminals, the common parts among information indicating the codecs and codec modes used for the communications in the first network, information indicating the codecs and codec modes supported by one of the two terminals, and information indicating the codecs and codec modes supported by the second network. A signaling generation unit 510 generates a signaling for requesting the two terminals to change to the established codec and codec mode that are to be used by the two terminals.

A device includes a receiver configured to receive an audio frame of an audio stream. The device also includes a decoder configured to generate first decoded speech associated with the audio frame and to determine a count of audio frames classified as being associated with band limited content. The decoder is further configured to output second decoded speech based on the first decoded speech. The second decoded speech may be generated according to an output mode of the decoder. The output mode may be selected based at least in part on the count of audio frames.

Audio bandwidth selection

After a call is established between two stations using a codec that has been negotiated during call setup, in-band signaling may be used between the two stations to change the codec that is to be used. The in-band signals are indicative that the station that is transmitting the in-band signals can operate with a second codec and are used to probe whether the receiving station can also operate with that second codec. If the receiving station detects and reacts to the in-band signals, then both stations change to communicate with the second codec. The second codec has compatible packet sizes of the deployed (originally negotiated) codec without any need of infrastructure upgrade and/or quality compromise to legacy phone users (i.e., stations that cannot operate with the second codec).
