A method for positioning a digital template of a prosthesis based on computerized measurement of the width of the medullar space in an 2-dimensional projection image of the relevant bone into which the prosthesis is to be inserted, the method comprising detecting, preferably automatically, the edges of the medullar space, the edges being detected in a region of interest; determining a position of the template along, such as parallel to, the main bone orientation in such a manner that one or more points on the template and one or more other points in the image has a pre-defined geometrical relationship; and determining an orientation of the digital template and a position orthogonal to the main bone orientation such that the contours of the templates fit the detected edges of the medullar space.

Pre-operative planning of implantations

A method for determining real positions in a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) is disclosed. A scanner or other secondary imaging device is used to acquire a series of reference images and to capture the light field when the MLC is in a particular position and has a particular geometry. The reference images are used together with the captured light field images in order to determine the real positions of the leaves in the MLC. The real positions are used to correct any calibration problems in the mechanism used to drive the leaves of the MLC.

Multi-leaf collimator position sensing

An x-ray apparatus has an exposure unit with an x-ray radiator and a diaphragm in front thereof, and a camera system with which an adjustment image is acquired of a subject positioned in front of an x-ray exposure plane. Using the adjustment image, a region to be examined of the subject is identified and an area of the x-ray exposure plane is selected such that the projection of the region to be examined of the subject is substantially inscribed in the projection of the areal section. The diaphragm is adjusted such that the x-ray radiation generated by the x-ray radiator is incident on the x-ray exposure plane only within the selected areal section.

X-ray examination method and apparatus with automatic gating of the x-ray beam

The present technique provides a method and system for centering a radiographic imaging system to provide minimal non-diagnostic radiation to a patient. The present technique incorporates a radio-opaque template that is substantially aligned to a light field produced from a light source. The present technique also incorporates a processing module that determines an offset distance from the features of the template to features detectable in data from an x-ray exposure. A processing module determines the offset distance utilizing an algorithm for recognizing the radio-opaque features and determining distances between the features and the detected edges or similar features of the exposure.
