The primary purpose of this study is to explore empirically the relationship between staff perceptions about organisational values and employee theft, with the intention of showing that the perception of strong organisational values in the workplace by employees minimises the occurrence of employee theft. The study focuses on a chain of supermarkets in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A total of 429 employees from the chosen supermarkets company have answered the questionnaire. Eight top executive staff including the chairman of the targeted company and 15 store managers were interviewed.Among the findings are that organisational values have been classified into six dimensions as a result of factor analysis and, generally, there are statistically significant relationships between these dimensions and employee theft. The general findings support the main hypotheses of the thesis. The findings also support the hypothesis that employee theft is affected by the level of economic and community pressures as controlling variables for organisational values.

The effect of organisational values on employee theft : a study of supermarkets in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Employee theft is one of the most harmful crimes committed against small businesses. In response the owners of victimized businesses can be expected to make organizational changes intended to prevent future victimizations. This study uses grounded theory techniques to analyze data obtained from interviews with small business owners regarding their experiences with employee theft. Results indicate that the decision to address employee theft was based on the owner’s perception of the severity of the theft, their perception that something could be done about the theft, and an assessment of organizational weaknesses and opportunities of future employee thefts. When theft was perceived to be significant, small business owners responded by making changes to the organization that fit with traditionally established techniques of situational crime prevention. However, the choice of techniques(s) was not random, but rather reflected a desire to achieve functional redundancy.

Call Centers in Health Care: Effect on Patient Satisfaction

This paper presents the results of the survey and analysis of receivables practices in manufacturing companies: a case of Nepalese pharmaceuticals companies. The survey is based on the structured questionnaire completed by 209 pharmaceuticals executives of which 44 were under corporate level, 98 were under business level and 67 were operational level. The major issues dealt in the survey are concerned with the application of credit control policy, application of credit customer grading form, application techniques used to grant credit, application of "best practice" tips for effective credit control and opinion on practice of credit limit. Survey results showed that pharmaceuticals companies have desired to establish credit control policy with continuous practice of using credit application to screen new customer and renew them yearly. However, the practice of average collection period was not satisfactory in the companies. The choice of "references" for grading credit customer and ratio analysis were evident to grant credit.
