The paper presents a remotely accessible laboratory realised for didactic aims at the University of Sannio, Italy. The laboratory is based on a software framework, with modularity characteristics that allows the insertion of new applications or the modification of the realised ones. Thanking to its implementation in Java and C++ with a CORBA communication layer, some instruments have been made available to the students of electronic measurement courses through a simple web browser in the form of Virtual Instruments (VIs).

Remotely accessible laboratory for electronic measurement teaching

The present work originates in the Project "Educational Modules for Electric and Electronic Circuits Theory and Practice following an Inquiry-based Teaching and Learning Methodology supported by VISIR", carried out with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme. Remote labs can provide a framework where physical experiments can be developed for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Although remote labs have been in use for over a decade now in several countries and levels of education, their use is not yet being generalized in Latin America. Through the VISIR+ International Cooperation Project from the Erasmus+ Programme, five higher education institutions from Latin America have incorporated de VISIR remote lab in order to carry out experiments with electric and electronic circuits. In the present work, the results of the study developed at Universidad Nacional de Rosario within the framework of the aforementioned project are shown.

Improving the use of remote laboratories. The case of VISIR at Universidad Nacional de Rosario

An Internet configurable distributed domotic network is presented. The network nodes are implemented with field programmable logic devices (FPGA). Each of them contains two modules, one for receiving field sensors activity signals and controlling devices responsible to modify the environment, and the other an ETHERNET compatible dedicated communication module. Simulation and implementation over SPARTAN III developing board results are presented.

Presentation of the PhD Thesis: “Fostering Experimental Competences Using Complementary Resources”

Since the engagement of Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) in the VISIR+ Project, several courses in the career of Electronic Engineering (EE) have incorporated experiments with electronic circuits based on VISIR remote lab. Three educational implementations in courses of the career of EE at UNR are introduced in this paper. Evaluation results are also discussed. Beyond potential adjustments, results are satisfactory and they encourage the continuity of these three implementations.

Incorporación de VISIR en Ingeniería Electrónica: Una experiencia institucional en Argentina

Resumen: El ruido urbano es un factor de contaminacion ambiental que puede p rovocar danos mas o menos graves, permanentes o no , sobre e l sistema a uditivo h umano. Los parametros que permiten estimar el nivel de ruido presente en un determinado ambiente, y en consecuencia el nivel de contaminacion ambiental y el posible perjuicio que ese nivel de ruido p uede causar sobre el oido hu mano son la frecuencia d el tono, el valor eficaz de presion sonora y el tiempo de duracion de la senal. Como parte de un sistema totalmente integrado destinado a medir la influencia d el nivel de ruido ambiente, se d escribe el diseno e implementacion d e un filtro de p onderacion sonora construido mediante la tecnica de capacitores conmutados. El filtro responde a la curva tipo A propuesta p or Fletcher y Munson para relacionar la medicion con el nivel de dano causado. El circuito se desarrollo para ser implementado en tecnologia CMOS de ATMEL de .7μm, con ba jo consumo pa ra permitir alimentacion mediante ba terias y respondiendo e n frecuencia segun la curva A de ponderacion sonora propuesta por Fletcher y Munson.
