An electroluminescent device comprises a light-emitting layer containing a host and a light-emitting material wherein the light-emitting material comprises a boron complex containing boron complexed by two ring nitrogens of a deprotonated bis(aromatic)amine or bis(aromatic)methene ligand wherein the boron complex contains a tertiary amine substituent group. The invention provides a material for a light-emitting layer of an EL device that exhibits improved luminance efficiency.

Organic element for electroluminescent devices

An image sensing apparatus has an image sensing element which accumulates received light as a charge, a mechanical shutter which travels to shield the image sensing element, and a scan unit which makes a scan for starting charge accumulation. The image sensing apparatus executes the scan for starting charge accumulation prior to traveling of the mechanical shutter and controls the scan for starting charge accumulation and traveling of the shutter to serve as a front curtain and a rear curtain of a shutter. Note that a scan pattern setting unit (113b) sets the scan pattern of the charge accumulation start scan based on information associated with a mounted photographing lens.

Image sensing apparatus

There is provided a white light illumination system. The illumination system includes a radiation source which emits either ultra-violet (UV) or x-ray radiation. The illumination system also includes a luminescent material which absorbs the UV or x-ray radiation and emits the white light. The luminescent material has composition A2−2xNa1+xExD2V3O12. A may be calcium, barium, strontium, or combinations of these three elements. E may be europium, dysprosium, samarium, thulium, or erbium, or combinations thereof. D may be magnesium or zinc, or combinations thereof. The value of x ranges from 0.01 to 0.3, inclusive.

Single phosphor for creating white light with high luminosity and high CRI in a UV led device

A data acquisition device, which has an X-ray detector including a plurality of channel widths at which channels at its central portion are fine and channels at its peripheral portions are coarse or rough, and a plurality of data acquisition ranges including a data acquisition range wide in a channel direction and a data acquisition range narrow in the channel direction, and which is capable of performing switching among the data acquisition ranges for each data acquisition, is used to perform data acquisition on the channels fine at the central portion in the data acquisition range narrow in the channel direction, whereby an X-ray CT apparatus is provided which is capable of performing high-resolution imaging and brings about more satisfactory image quality.

X-ray ct apparatus

Charge coupled devices (CCDs) can be placed next to each in a tiled array to reproduce a larger image. The seams between the CCDs in a tiled CCD array can be reduced by placing fiber optic arrays on top of each CCD in the CCD array. The fiber optic arrays have numerous optical fibers that are tilted with respect to the plane of the CCDs. The optical fibers can retrieve electromagnetic radiation falling in gaps between the tiled CCDs. The optical fiber arrays substantially reduce the seams that appear in the image. Electronic pixel binning configurations can be adjusted to accommodate the placement of the optical fibers. The fiber optic arrays can have beveled edges near the gaps between adjacent CCDs to image light in the gaps. Techniques for reducing the dead zone between CCDs in a tiled array and for forming fiber optic arrays on a common plane are also provided.

An improved CCD-based x-ray image sensor system enables the use of an uncooled or only slightly cooled CCD array (18a) within a standard size x-ray film cassette (1). The sensor system provides a number of advanced functions such as remote diagnostic capability, variable image resolution, real-time exposure control, automatic x-ray detection, a low-power "sleep" mode, and automatic, closed loop optimization of image quality.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an easy-to-use X-ray image sensor system which can be used by without cooling or slight cooling a CCD array. SOLUTION: X-ray beams 54 generated by an X-ray device 52 reach a cassette 10 through an object. A CCD 18a is constituted in one piece with a screen and an optical fiber surface plate and image data detected by it are read and supplied to, a PC 56, etc. The PC 56 includes a high-resolution display 58, a keyboard 60, and a high-capacity digital image recorder 62 for recording/ reproducing. A power supply 66 and a strobe button 68 are connected by a CCD control electronics unit 64 and the device is started and controlled by the unit 64, thus improving a number of functions including remote diagnosis, variation of image resolution, real-time exposure control, and automatic X-ray detection.
