An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display is disclosed. In one aspect, the display includes a stretchable substrate, a thin film transistor (TFT) formed over the stretchable substrate and including a plurality of electrodes, an OLED electrically connected to the TFT and including a plurality of electrodes, and a plurality of interconnection lines connected to the electrodes of the OLED and the TFT. At least one of the interconnection lines is configured to move in a stretching direction and rotate an electrode selected from the electrodes of the OLED and the TFT connected to the at least one interconnection line.

Organic light-emitting diode display

The light-emitting element of the present invention includes a light-emitting layer and a layer for controlling movement of carriers between a pair of electrodes. The layer for controlling movement of carriers includes a first organic compound having a carrier transporting property and a second organic compound for reducing the carrier transporting property of the first organic compound, and the second organic compound is dispersed in the first organic compound. The layer for controlling movement of carriers is provided in such a manner, whereby change in carrier balance with time can be suppressed. Therefore, a light-emitting element having a long lifetime can be obtained.

Light-emitting element, light-emitting device, and electronic device

The present invention provides OLEDs of the top emission type comprising organic light-emitting (LE) elements by preventing the problems such as the widening of the power lines, the reduction in the aperture ratio caused by the widening of the upper and the lower capacitor electrodes and the short circuit between the upper and the lower electrodes caused by the roughness of the flattening layers. Two kinds of the OLEDs are provided. One is an OLED comprising a region of LE layer sandwiched between the upper and lower electrodes is formed on a power line of TFT for driving the pixel. Another comprises a region of the LE layer formed on an electrode of capacitor connected to the TFTs to control the light-emitting element. Accordingly, without forming a flattening layer on the light-emitting layer, there is no electric short circuit between the lower electrode and the upper electrode.

Organic Light Emitting Display Device

By doping an organic compound functioning as an electron donor (hereinafter referred to as donor molecules) into an organic compound layer contacting a cathode, donor levels can be formed between respective LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) levels between the cathode and the organic compound layer, and therefore electrons can be injected from the cathode, and transmission of the injected electrons can be performed with good efficiency. Further, there are no problems such as excessive energy loss, deterioration of the organic compound layer itself, and the like accompanying electron movement, and therefore an increase in the electron injecting characteristics and a decrease in the driver voltage can both be achieved without depending on the work function of the cathode material.

Light Emitting Device

A light-absorbing layer is selectively formed over an insulating surface, an insulating layer is formed over the insulating surface and the light-absorbing layer, the insulating surface, the light-absorbing layer, and the insulating layer are irradiated with laser light to selectively remove only the insulating layer above the light-absorbing layer in an irradiated region of the insulating layer so that an opening reaching the light-absorbing layer is formed in the insulating layer, and a conductive film is formed in the opening so as to be in contact with the light-absorbing layer. By forming the conductive film in the opening so as to be in contact with the exposed light-absorbing layer, the conductive film can be electrically connected to the light-absorbing layer with the insulating layer interposed therebetween.

Method for manufacturing display device

A method of making an OLED display having a plurality of OLED devices includes providing a plurality of OLED devices on a substrate, such OLED devices sharing a common light-transmissive electrode; forming a patterned conductive layer structure over the common light-transmissive electrode to define wells in alignment with emissive areas of one or more OLED devices; and providing optical material into one or more wells.

Patterning oled device electrodes and optical material

A printhead (10), particularly a light emitting diode (LED) printhead, which has improved apparatus for distributing signals to individual printing elements, i.e. LEDs, that are used in the printhead. Specifically, this printhead contains a number of print element arrays, typically arrays (252, 254, 256) of light emitting diodes, and a corresponding number of drive circuits (232, 234, 236) all of which are mounted to a common member, this member illustratively being a metallic stiffener plate (65). Each of the drive circuits is connected to a corresponding one of the print element arrays. All the print element arrays are typically situated in a co-linear orientation longitudinally along the member with the drive circuits co-linearly arranged along a side of the arrays. A plurality of distribution means in the form of spreader boards (210, 310, 410) or incorporated as circuitry on the integrated circuit chips or packages forming the drive circuits is provided for distributing data and timing signals to said drive circuits to control the selection and timing of generation of respective drive currents; and the printhead is characterized by interconnection means (214, 216, 312; 314, 316, 412) interconnecting said distribution means in daisy-chained fashion so that said data and timing signals are passed from one distribution means to another through said daisy-chain connection.

A light emitting diode printhead having improved signal distribution apparatus

An LED array printhead comprises an elongate support bar of generally rectangular cross section with a row of LED array chips mounted end-to-end along one of the narrow elongate edge faces of the bar. The bar is sandwiched between heat sink members confronting its wide faces. The heat sink members dissipate heat from the bar and also support circuit board means electrically connected to the LED chips.

Light emitting diode printhead

An LED array module for use in an LED array printhead is fabricated on a frame of tape-automated bonding (TAB) tape that provides all of the wiring for connecting the chips together, for connecting the module to one or more external circuit boards and for testing the module; thereby protecting the delicate components and allowing the module to be completely tested prior to excising it from the TAB frame and mounting it to the printhead support member.
