A menu driven reprogrammable drug pump is provided with a memory, such as flash memory, a display, a keyboard, and a communications port to allow a generic pump to be programmed with a desired pump application (therapy) program and patient specific settings. Programming and data transfer with another pump or a computer to and from the patient pump is by the communications port that allows local and/or remote communications with the pump. Flash memory stores the pump application program during use. Patient safety is provided by a cassette identification system, an occlusion detection system, and a latch/lock detection system. Automated testing of the pump is by a closed loop testing system.

Drug pump systems and methods

An infusion device with a disposable administration set which is inexpensive to manufacture. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the disposable administration set has a plurality of elongated cam followers connected to a plate assembly, wherein the cam followers are displaced in a predetermined sequence and forced against a delivery tube by cam means driven by rotary drive means. The disposable administration set is injection molded as a single integral piece. The disposable administration set includes adjustment spacers disposed between the plate assembly and the cam followers which adjust the distance between them to keep the device accurate. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the cam means are configured to provide fluid delivery at a consistent and uniform rate.

Infusion device with disposable elements

An inventory monitoring system which is operative at a point of storage automatically to sense the presence and number of materials or product items stored in a storage volume generating a logical inventory map of the storage volume so that time-related mappings can be compared to detect item receipts and withdrawals. Preferred embodiments employ a novel electronic shelf unit equipped with a sensing grid or array of sensors that detect items supported on the shelf optically, or by pressure transducers or the like. Inventory information can be collected from multiple shelves and relayed to remote vendors or local computer systems for billing and reordering using infrared transceivers for communication between the shelves. A novel shelf supervisory unit has a modem to communicate remotely via the phone lines and an onboard processor to manage communications. The system has particular application to consignment marketing of surgical and medical supplies in medical suites.

Materials monitoring systems, materials management systems and related methods

A method and system for providing point-of-sale and point-of-delivery and/or distribution of products in a restricted access unit near the customer. The method and system utilize products equipped with radio frequency tags and reduce the effects of energy sharing, shadowing, and nulls. In one embodiment, a plurality of RF tagged products are placed within a refrigerator, cabinet, or other micro-warehouse that has a door or opening that can detect access to the micro-warehouse. In one embodiment, one or more antennas are positioned within the door. Each antenna may have a transmission line of sight and be configured to emit a signal at predefined frequencies. Each antenna generates an electromagnetic field within the micro-warehouse. In one embodiment, the products are positioned in one or more bins, compartments, or similar devices located within the micro-warehouse such that at least two of the plurality of products are spaced a distance from each other to reduce energy sharing. The electromagnetic field is moved or altered within the micro-warehouse through the use of reflectors, devices that move the antennas, or other mechanisms.

RF point of sale and delivery method and system using communication with remote computer and having features to read a large number of RF tags

The present invention concerns a new category of integrated circuitry and a new methodology for adaptive or reconfigurable computing. The preferred IC embodiment includes a plurality of heterogeneous computational elements coupled to an interconnection network. The plurality of heterogeneous computational elements include corresponding computational elements having fixed and differing architectures, such as fixed architectures for different functions such as memory, addition, multiplication, complex multiplication, subtraction, configuration, reconfiguration, control, input, output, and field programmability. In response to configuration information, the interconnection network is operative in real-time to configure and reconfigure the plurality of heterogeneous computational elements for a plurality of different functional modes, including linear algorithmic operations, non-linear algorithmic operations, finite state machine operations, memory operations, and bit-level manipulations. The various fixed architectures are selected to comparatively minimize power consumption and increase performance of the adaptive computing integrated circuit, particularly suitable for mobile, hand-held or other battery-powered computing applications.

Adaptive integrated circuitry with heterogeneous and reconfigurable matrices of diverse and adaptive computational units having fixed, application specific computational elements

Apparatus for automatically determining the weight of a plurality of articles (14), each of the articles (14) having a surface portion (54) with a unique element thereon, comprises a plurality of assemblies (22) and a computer (56). Each assembly (22) includes a surface (30) for supporting an article (14), a transducer (36) in operative contact with the supporting surface (30) for producing an output signal indicative of the weight of an article (14) placed on the supporting surface (30), and a sensor (48) in operative relationship with an article (14) on the supporting surface (30) for producing an output signal indicative of the unique element on the surface portion (54) of the article. A computer (56) receives the transducer output signals and the sensor output signals and, for each article (14) on the supporting surfaces (30), computes the weight of the article based on the transducer output signal and identifies the article (14) based on the sensor output signal. The apparatus is especially useful as an inventory control system for a bar.
