Journal ArticleDOI

Fluid ascent and magma storage beneath Gunung Merapi revealed by multi-scale seismic imaging

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors summarized seismic experiments carried out over many years at Gunung Merapi in Central Java, and provided a 3D structural image of the lithosphere and subduction zone beneath Central Java.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time-dependent brittle creep as a mechanism for time-delayed wellbore failure

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose to explain delayed wellbore failure by time-dependent brittle creep, which has been observed for many types of rocks, especially in swelling clays.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of fracture networks on borehole breakout heterogeneities in crystalline rock

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of fracture networks on the development of breakouts from detailed analysis of 1221 borehole elongation pairs in the vicinity of 1871 natural fractures observed in the crystalline section of the GPK4 well of the Soultz-sous-Forets geothermal field (France).
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of borehole breakout development using continuum damage mechanics

TL;DR: In this article, a continuum damage mechanics (CDM) concept is proposed to model the dissipative behavior of the material due to cracking and its evolution, which leads to an inhomogeneous redistribution of material properties and stresses in the vicinity of the borehole wall.
