Public and private spending for environmental protection: a cross country policy analysis

TL;DR: The authors showed that there has been no shift towards an increasing private sector burden relative to the public sector over time and that the elasticity of expenditure with respect to income is 1.2, lower than would be expected if the "environmental demand effect" is significant in explaining the downward slope of the environmental Kuznets curve.

Natural environments and the social rate of discount

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that the environmental critique of discounting is not persuasive, that arguments for adjusting discount rates do contain persuasive elements, but adjusting discount rate is a clumsy way of handling these legitimate concerns.
