Effect of organic modifiers on dynamic and static nanomechanical properties and crystallinity of intercalated clay–polycaprolactam nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of organic modifiers on structure and nanomechanical properties of polyamide6 and sodium montmorillonite is evaluated using X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of interfacial interactions on the crystallinity and nanomechanical properties of clay–polymer nanocomposites: A molecular dynamics study

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction energies among the different constituents of polymeric clay nanocomposites are evaluated using molecular dynamics simulations, revealing that the interactions between polymer, organic modifiers, and intercalated clay are critical factors in controlling the crystallinity and enhancement of nanomechanical properties of PCN.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of backbone chain length and functional groups of organic modifiers on crystallinity and nanomechanical properties of intercalated clay-polycaprolactam nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of chain length of organic modifier on the crystallinity and nanomechanical properties of polymer clay nanocomposites (PCNs) using modifiers of three different chain lengths while maintaining the same functional groups.
