Model Predicting Survival in Stage I Melanoma Based on Tumor Progression

TL;DR: A prognostic model for primary, clinical stage I cutaneous melanoma was developed using the lesional steps in tumor progression and multivariable logistic regression to develop a model that is 89% accurate in predicting survival.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fifteen-year results of breast-conserving surgery and definitive breast irradiation for the treatment of ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast.

TL;DR: The results from the present study demonstrate high rates of overall survival, cause-specific survival, and freedom from distant metastases following the treatment of DCIS of the breast using breast-conserving surgery and definitive breast irradiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biochemical outcome after radical prostatectomy or external beam radiation therapy for patients with clinically localized prostate carcinoma in the prostate specific antigen era.

TL;DR: To the authors' knowledge, consensus is lacking regarding the relative long‐term efficacy of radical prostatectomy versus conventional‐dose external beam radiation therapy (RT) in the treatment of patients with clinically localized prostate carcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Breast recurrence following conservative surgery and radiation: patterns of failure, prognosis, and pathologic findings from mastectomy specimens with implications for treatment.

TL;DR: Based on the inability to identify factors which would predict for a localized recurrence pathologically, mastectomy is recommended as the preferred surgical treatment for an isolated breast recurrence and adjuvant chemotherapy may be beneficial in patients with an unfavorable prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Multivariate Analysis of Clinical and Pathological Factors that Predict for Prostate Specific Antigen Failure after Radical Prostatectomy for Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: A Cox regression multivariate analysis was done to determine the clinical and pathological indicators that predict for prostate specific antigen (PSA) failure in 347 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy for clinically localized prostate cancer between 1989 and 1993.
