Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental and numerical investigation of the airflow around a raised permeable panel
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D computational simulation and a full-scale experiment using two kinds of cladding material, namely an impermeable plastic film and permeable nets, were used to analyze the airflow around an elevated permeable panel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Finite element analysis of a cylindrical silo shell under unsymmetrical pressure distributions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors deal with the analysis of the behavior and the state of stress developing in a silo shell under real asymmetric pressure distributions concerning both storing and discharge, and suggest that the design of such structures may not neglect the asymmetric features of the real pressures developed by the stored material.
Journal ArticleDOI
The C 0 shell plate and beam elements freed from their deficiencies
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a new formulation which removes all shear and membrane locking mechanisms from the finite element equations of the structural C0 shell, plate and beam elements, and employed full integration with the proposed formulation to eliminate zero energy modes problem, and/or softening effects associated with the use of the reduced integration in C0 plate and shell element applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis and Design of Low-density Polyethylene Greenhouse Films
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanical behavior of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films under various combinations of pre-tension and uniform pressure schemes is investigated experimentally and numerically using the finite element method of analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and use criteria of netting systems for agricultural production in italy
Sergio Castellano,Giacomo Scarascia Mugnozza,Giovanni Russo,Demetres Briassoulis,Antonis Mistrotis,Silke Hemming,Dries Waaijenberg +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a systematic review of the current state-of-the-art of structural parameters, standard and regulations, most common agricultural applications of nets and their supporting structures has been developed by means of a literature study, technical investigations, interviews with permeable covering producers, specialised greenhouse builders and growers, who are familiar with infrastructured cladding applications.
