An apparatus is provided for producing pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical-like product. The apparatus provides real-time monitoring of the pharmaceutical product and can provide real-time control. The apparatus monitors the dosage both before and after it has been added to a carrier substrate. The apparatus can provide monitoring of each pharmaceutical product that is processed.

A method of filling a multi-dose blister card first includes selecting a first intermediate blister card comprising a plurality of tablets of a first product stored within a first plurality of intermediate blisters. Additionally, a multi-dose blister card including a plurality of multi-dose blisters that are empty is selected. The plurality of tablets of the first product from the first plurality of intermediate blisters are transferred into the plurality of multi-dose blisters. Next, a second intermediate blister card including a plurality of tablets of a second product stored within a second plurality of intermediate blisters is selected. The plurality of tablets of the second product are then transferred into the plurality of multi-dose blisters such that at least one of the multi-dose blisters contains one tablet of the first product and one product of the second product.

Method of dispensing pills from a movable platen

A blister-pack package is made by forming a strip with a plurality of fields of upwardly open pockets and filling the pockets with respective objects while leaving at least one pocket empty and then scanning the fields and determining an address of the empty pocket in the respective field. A refilling head is then loaded at a stationary location with at least one of the objects. The loaded refilling head is then positioned above the empty pocket in accordance with the determined address, and the object is dropped from the loaded and positioned head into the empty pocket.

Filling blister-pack strips

A base sheet is spanned over a lower roller, and an upper roller pulls a cover sheet along a path and presses it against the base sheet at the lower roller. A preheater housing along the path upstream of the rollers is formed with a chamber open toward the path. A radiant heater in the chamber is directed transversely at the path so as to heat the cover sheet passing along the path. A sensor along the path adjacent the chamber detects atmosphere around the chamber and generates an output when the detected atmosphere indicates an unsafe hot condition of the cover sheet. A shutter can shift between a retracted position offset from the chamber and an advanced position closing the chamber. A controller connected to the sensor shifts the shutter from the retracted position to the advanced position when the output is generated by the sensor.

Heat laminating a cover foil to a base foil

A continuous and elongated blister-pack strip having transverse rows of blisters of which some are empty and most are full is transported through a stamping station. Upstream of the stamping station whether any blisters entering the stamping station are full or empty is sensed. In the stamping station only sections all of whose blisters are full are stamped out of the strip from between the edges thereof while leaving the edges flanking the stamped-out section intact so that sections of the strip having at least one empty blister leave the stamping station attached to the strip edges. The stamped-out sections are transported away from the path at the stamping station. Spaces in the strip between blisters still attached to the strip edges are then detected and the entire strip is transversely cut only between the respective blisters into pieces each including at least one row of intact blisters.

The method monitors the filling level of each blister (2) in the foil web, to detect the blisters (2') which are incorrectly filled at the filling station, for control of a top-up filling head (8), displaced across the width of the foil web in dependence on the positions of the blisters requiring topping-up. The filling head is displaced along an outrider (9) extending parallel to the plane of the foil web under control of position information fed to the top-up filling device (7) via an optical filling control (6).

The device has packages (2) supplied on a moving conveyer system (4) with a grab element (7). A propelable driver has a decentralized drive shaft (14) swivellingly stored with a first lever arm (15) and a elbow lever (16) is torque proofed arranged. A second lever arm (18) is connected by a knee joint (17) with the first lever arm at its free end having a gripper shaft swivellingly stored. The grab element controls the opening angle as well as the lever arms controlling of turning situation of the grab element to the elbow lever. A first cam disc (20) controls the opening angle so that the drive shaft of the knee joint runs off the assigned first cam roller (23). The second lever arm is connected to the torque proofed drive shaft.
