BookDOI

Suspended solids in water.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of Tropical Storm Agnes on the suspended solids of the Northern Chesapeake Bay and the distribution and transport of suspended particles in Submarine Canyons Off Southern California were investigated.
Book ChapterDOI

Stokes’ Settling and Chemical Reactivity of Suspended Particles in Natural Waters

TL;DR: In this paper, the Stokes settling velocities of calcareous and silicate particles are analyzed in terms of a model for dissolution rate independent of the particle surface area, and a model dependent on a surface reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dissolution and behavior of particulate biogenic matter in the ocean: Some theoretical considerations

TL;DR: For calcareous and siliceous biogenic particles in the micron size range, the Stokes' settling velocities are sufficiently small such that appreciable dissolution may be expected in transit through a vertical column of ocean water as discussed by the authors.
