The concentration of human population along coastlines has far-reaching effects on ocean and societal health. The oceans provide benefits to humans such as food, coastal protection and improved mental well-being, but can also impact negatively via natural disasters. At the same time, humans influence ocean health, for example, via coastal development or through environmental stewardship. Given the strong feedbacks between ocean and human health there is a need to promote desirable interactions, while minimising undesirable interactions. To this end, we articulate two scenarios for 2030. First, Business-as-Usual, named ‘Command and (out of) Control’, focuses on the anticipated future based on our current trajectory. Second, a more sustainable scenario called ‘Living and Connecting’, emphasises the development of interactions between oceans and society consistent with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We describe a potential pathway to achieving the ‘Living and Connecting’ scenario, centred on improving marine citizenship, achieving a more equitable distribution of power among stakeholders, and more equitable access to resources and opportunities. The constituent actions of this pathway can be categorised into four groups: (i) improved approaches to science and health communication that account for society’s diverse values, beliefs and worldviews, (ii) a shift towards more trusted relationships among stakeholders to enable two-way knowledge exchange, (iii) economic incentives that encourage behavioural changes necessary for achieving desired sustainability outcomes, and (iv) stronger regulations that simultaneously focus on ocean and human health. We contend that these changes will provide improved outcomes for both oceans and society over the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science.

Oceans and society: feedbacks between ocean and human health.

As technology develops, information systems become very important in institutions. Information systems support the delivery of information quickly and accurately. The system is a reference at the Persada Islamic Boarding School Ahmad Dahlan University to develop an information delivery system using applications integrated. Manual systems cause the information to be less relevant, requiring an integrated and comprehensive system that can effectively and efficiently deliver information to students. The application developed using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Rapid Application Development (RAD) methods. The application of these methods requires two main steps, including determining ERP and RAD for implementation. The process for obtaining an ERP method requires steps such as Material Requirement Planning, Close-Loop, and Manufacturing Resource Planning, and Enterprise Resource Planning. The RAD method requires steps such as Requirement Planning, RAD Design Workshop, and Implementation. Application testing used black-box and alpha testing. Each of these tests obtained an accuracy of 95% and 97.7%. Thus, this application can be implemented in Persada very well on mobile and desktop platforms. Besides, the app used information broadcasting to users in real-time for any information in Persada.

Information System Development Based-on ERP and RAD Methods: Application For Activities Information Broadcasting

This research emphasizes the natural behavior of batik artisans in adopting natural dyes in
Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Indonesian batik, as one of the leading Indonesian artwork, has received
recognition from UNESCO as a heritage of humanity's oral and non-material culture and became
its own cultural phenomenon, in addition to having received recognition from UNESCO as a great
traditional craft. Indonesian batik is expected to synergize with the environment and create a
harmonious balance of the ecosystem. This research discusses some of the issues associated with
factors that influence the adoption of natural dyes by batik artisans in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, this research added factors of perceived environmental
responsibility, trialability, ease of use, and experience as factors that affect the adoption of natural
dyes in batik-making practices. The population in this study are all artisans in Batik SMEs,
Yogyakarta. The total number of artisans in Yogyakarta, Indonesia is 130. Sampling was done by
purposive sampling. The results showed that the model of adoption of natural dyes is accepted.
Perceived environmental responsibility, experience, trialibility, and easy of use have a positive
influence on attitude, and attitude has a positive influence on adoption natural dyes.

Adoption of natural dyes for batik artisansin yogyakarta, indonesia

This study aims to examine the possibility of developing Mega Mendung batik as an Eco-product in the Trusmi Batik Center Area, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. The benefit of this research is to increase the practical knowledge of processing Batik products and to make the sample products as a reference for similar products. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation regarding natural dyes and batik making techniques. The results of this study indicate a positive impact in the development of the Mega Mendung batik as an Eco-product in the Trusmi Batik Center Area. First the Mega Mendung batik was developed using conventional methods without natural ingredients. Then natural dyes were used for the Mega Mendung motif, which are red-blue coloring, with a red cloth background and blue gradation on the motif. Campaign also conducted through Eco-promotion, Mega Mendung batik now has a much higher selling value based on the type of natural batik fabric, such as in printed batik, embroidered batik cloth, and contemporary batik. In the future, this Eco-product development needs to be continued for Mega Mendung batik to stay as one of the distinguished culture of Cirebon.

Redefining Cirebon batik into an environmentally friendly icon of West Java

The impact of the low level of community awareness on the banks of the Indonesian Citarum River in disposing of trash in its place, causes it to dispose of waste directly into the Citarum river. This causes the river to become shallow so that the tamping power of the river is reduced, and causes flooding. In order to increase the awareness of residents on the banks of the Citarum River in order to dispose of trash in its place, the authors held a workshop to paint trash bins. The goal is that the trash can looks beautiful and attractive. The method used in assistance is by way of joint practice in painting the motifs of You and Me. The results of this assistance physically appear to be a beautiful trash bin, while psychologically the level of public awareness in disposing of trash in its place increases. Recommendations on community practice assistance activities in beautifying the environment are important to be carried out so that public awareness in preserving nature

Mural atau lukisan dinding belum terlalu dikenal bagi sebagian besar masarakat Indonesia. Mural yang terdapat di beberapa tempat strategis sangat efektif sebagai media penyampai pesan-pesan tertentu, termasuk iklan produk tertentu yang memanfaatkan mural sebagai media promosi. Dinding yang jadikan sebagai media lukis untuk mural tentunya berukuran besar. Institusi pendidikan tinggi yang memiliki tugas pokok tri dharma memanfaatkan mural sebagai media pendidikan dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Institusi pendidikan tinggi khususnya yang memiliki jurusan seni rupa yang sering mengadakan kegiatan mural.Indonesia yang masyarakatnya masih rendah dalam hal apresisasi seni rupa sangat efektif ketika secara tidak langsung maupun langsung unsur-unsur pendidikan disampaikan melalui mural. Dalam hal ini termasuk masyarakat akademik, sekolah menengah maupun institusi selain akademik. Dalam kajian ini, penulis mengambil dua contoh kegiatan mural sebagai media pendidikan dan pengabdian masyarakat yang menjadi bahan kajian. Kajian diarahkan terkait efektivitas mural sebagai media pendidikan dan pengabdian masyarakat. Dua contoh sebagai bahan kajian diuraikan dalam pembahasan.

The role of higher education in society activation through digital mural in ASEAN cities

Art Higher Education Institution in Indonesia has been established since 1947, and ever since has developed in different parts of Indonesia. Indonesia as a country with rich culture and arts, has its own history and characteristics regarding its visual arts development. Prominent names in The History of Art Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia includes names, such as Simon Admiraal, Ries Mulder and RJ Katamsi. They had historical account of establishing Universitaire Leergang voor Tekenleraren (FSRD ITB) and ASRI located in Bandung and Yogyakarta respectively. The goal of this research and development is aimed towards information propagation regarding these historical data and information of art higher education institutions in Indonesia. The project was initiated by Creative Arts Department of Telkom University, which also acts as an art higher education institution. The website development methodology went through several phases, which includes data collections of art higher education institutions in Indonesia, qualitative research that includes interviews and observations of key persons, as well as using Website Generation Model methodology in its development. The preliminary results of this research project informs that the website has perform well in key objectives regarding needs, systems and learning process. In the future it is needed to also research similar projects in Indonesia such as online art database like IVAA (Indonesian Visual Art Archive) which originated in Yogyakarta. The preliminary conclusions of currently ongoing research are that it is necessary to build such online database to hold historical data about the subject, and that the visual aspects of the website have the most consideration for the success of this project. The impact of this research for current development is that the research give way to utilizing qualitative research as well as Website Generation Model in developing better and more attracting websites.

Website Development of Indonesian Art Higher Education Institutions Historical Archives

Bangsa Indonesia adalah bangsa yang besar dan memiliki sejarah panjang dalam kemerdekaannya. Selain memiliki wilayah yang luas dengan jumlah penduduk yang besar, keberagaman penganut agama, seni dan budaya menjadi kekayaaan tersendiri bagi bangsa ini. Keberagaman seni dan budaya Indonesia menurut buku-buku sejarah sudah ada sejak berabad-abad yang lalu, ada yang bertahan hingga kini ada pula yang ‘sekarat’ menghadapi perubahan jaman serta ada yang menjadi bentuk baru akibat akulturasi. Sejak Islam masuk ke Indonesia, terjadi hal-hal yang baru. masuknya Islam ke Indonesia mengakibatkan tercipta karya seni baru contohnya : kaligrafi Islam (sebelumnya belum ada), arsitektur bernuansa Islam, seni hias Islam, dan lain-lain yang dikenal sebagai karya seni rupa Islam. Islam mengalami perkembangan yang pesat dari waktu ke waktu. Pada masa kini, orang banyak menyebut era 4.0, seni rupa Islam menghadapi tantangan yang berat berupa masuknya budaya-budaya global yang saling mempengaruhi satu sama lain dan tidak bisa dibendung lagi. Teknologi informasi yang berkembang pesat adalah sebuah kenyataan pada era 4.0, sehingga identitas seni rupa Islam itu sendiri menjadi ‘kabur’ dan tidak jelas.
