Journal ArticleDOI
Perindopril/indapamide combination more effective than enalapril in reducing blood pressure and left ventricular mass: the PICXEL study.
Björn Dahlöf,Philippe Gosse,P. Guéret,Olivier Dubourg,Giovanni de Simone,Roland E. Schmieder,Yuri Karpov,Juan García-Puig,Lajos Matos,Peter W. de Leeuw,Jean-Paul Degaute,Dieter Magometschnigg +11 more
TL;DR: A strategy based on first-line combination with perindopril/indapamide achieved better blood pressure decrease with a significantly greater degree of LVH reduction than a strategybased on monotherapy with enalapril in hypertensive patients with LVH.
Journal ArticleDOI
The diltiazem-digoxin interaction.
TL;DR: To study the interaction between the calcium antagonist diltiazem and digoxin, a randomized crossover trial under steady‐state conditions was carried out in 24 healthy male subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Function of the autonomic nervous system in patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
Kurt Lenz,Heide Hörtnagl,Dieter Magometschnigg,Gunter Kleinberger,Wilfred Druml,Anton N. Laggner +5 more
TL;DR: Increased plasma levels of noradrenaline and adrenaline and an attenuated increase in heart rate in response to atropine were found in patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diltiazem and verapamil: functional antagonism of exogenous noradrenalin and angiotensin II in man
TL;DR: It is suggest that the hypotensive activity of calcium antagonists can be at least partly attributed to a reduction in vascular tone which is maintained by the postjunctional action of noradrenaline and angiotensin II.
Journal ArticleDOI
Felodipine-metoprolol combination tablet: a valuable option to initiate antihypertensive therapy?
Bernard Waeber,Jean-Marie Detry,Björn Dahlöf,Juan G. Puig,Torstein Gundersen,James Hosie,Włodzimierz Januszewicz,Carl J Lindström,Dieter Magometschnigg,Michel E. Safar,Paul H. Tanser,Pavlos Toutouzas +11 more
TL;DR: Results show that a fixed combination tablet of felodipine and metoprolol allows to normalize blood pressure in a substantially larger fraction of patients than enalapril given alone, and may become a valuable option to initiate antihypertensive treatment.
