Graphene is a 2D sheet of sp2 bonded carbon atoms and tends to aggregate together, due to the strong π-π stacking and van der Waals attraction between different layers. Its unique properties such as a high specific surface area and a fast mass transport rate are severely blocked. To address these issues, various kinds of 2D holey graphene and 3D porous graphene are either self-assembled from graphene layers or fabricated using graphene related materials such as graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide. Porous graphene not only possesses unique pore structures, but also introduces abundant exposed edges and accelerates mass transfer. The properties and applications of these porous graphenes and their composites/hybrids have been extensively studied in recent years. Herein, recent progress and achievements in synthesis and functionalization of various 2D holey graphene and 3D porous graphene are reviewed. Of special interest, electrochemical applications of porous graphene and its hybrids in the fields of electrochemical sensing, electrocatalysis, and electrochemical energy storage, are highlighted. As the closing remarks, the challenges and opportunities for the future research of porous graphene and its composites are discussed and outlined.

Recent Advances of Porous Graphene: Synthesis, Functionalization, and Electrochemical Applications.

In this work, the development of a simple and sensitive electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous determination of sulfadiazine (SDZ) and acetaminophen (AP) is described. The sensor harnessed a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for selective recognition of SDZ and AP, and a graphene oxide@covalent organic framework (GO@COF) nanocomposite for signal amplification. The GO@COF nanocomposite was first immobilized on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE), after which a polypyrrole MIP was electrodeposited on the modified electrode. The resulting electrochemical sensor (denoted as MIP/GO@COF/GCE) showed a strong current response to both SDZ and AP in phosphate buffer at pH 7.0. Under optimal testing conditions, linear calibration curves were obtained over the concentration range 0.5–200 μM for SDZ and 0.05–20 μM for AP, with limits of detection being 0.16 μM and 0.032 μM, respectively. Beef and fodder samples spiked with SDZ and AP were extracted in ethyl acetate, then the SDZ and AP in the extracts quantified using the MIP/GO@COF/GCE sensor. Recoveries were excellent, ranging from 82.0 to 108.0%. The same method was also employed to determine SDZ and AP residues in pork and chicken samples, with the results correlating well with those obtained using high-performance liquid chromatography.

The invention discloses a spinning MOF (metal-organic framework)-235-500 DEG C material, a method for preparing the same and application of the spinning MOF-235-500 DEG C material. The method includespreparing precursors from ethyl alcohol solution of MOF-235 and PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) composite materials; calcining the precursors at the high temperature of 500 DEG C to obtain the spinning MOF-235-500 DEG C material. The application includes modifying the surfaces of glassy carbon electrodes with the synthesized spinning MOF-235-500 DEG C material; constructing spinning MOF-235-500 DEG C/Nafion/GCE (glassy carbon electrode) sensors. The MOF-235-500 DEG C material, the method and the application have the advantages that linear relations of peak currents and the concentration of dopamine (DA) are investigated by the aid of I-T curve processes, and the DA on the sensors is excellent in electrochemical behavior in acetic acid-sodium acetate solution systems with the pH (potential ofhydrogen) of 4 as shown by results; in addition, the prepared spinning MOF-235-500 DEG C/Nafion/GCE sensors are good in repeatability, stability and selectivity and can be successfully used for analyzing practical samples of dopamine injection.
