Emergency Life-Saving Drugs (ELSDs) are among the highest-priority healthcare necessities since they must be administered immediately to save patient lives and prevent complications in the most critical conditions. Due to this reason, it is vital to ensure a continuous and undisrupted supply chain (SC) network for ELSDs throughout the country. However, the SC network of ELSDs is very complex and unpredictable, requiring many stages and processes and involving many parties. The recent COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia–Ukraine war have increased these SC disruptions even to a greater extent. Due to the associated complexities and uncertainties, the efficient management of ELSDs SC is usually very challenging. Consequently, proper identification and evaluation of ELSDs SC disruption risks are crucial, of which few studies have concentrated yet, especially from an emerging economy perspective. This study aimed to identify and analyze the most impactful risk factors (RFs) that disrupt the ELSDs SC, particularly in a developing country context, to address this research gap. The study identified 14 key RFs to the ELSDs SC from relevant literature and expert feedback. Then, a combination of the Grey theory and the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method was utilized in this study to assess and prioritize the RFs and show the interrelationships among them. The findings suggested that financial and economic risk, non-availability of critical raw material, an influx of infectious disease, and sudden natural disasters pose the greatest threats to the ELSDs SC. A sensitivity analysis was also conducted afterward to evaluate the robustness of the proposed framework. This research is expected to aid the managers of ELSDs SC in maintaining a continuous and undisrupted availability of these essential medicines to save the lives of millions of patients under critical care.

The process of production, consumption, and final disposal of electrical and electronic equipment usually leads to harmful waste to the environment called e-waste. Eliminating and decreasing this type of waste could be considered as an essential goal for many enterprises working toward sustainable management systems. In this paper, we aim at introducing a new methodology for evaluation of sustainable e-waste management scenarios. The evaluation is defined as an MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision-Making) problem, and the scenarios are the alternatives of the problem that need to be evaluated with respect to several sustainability criteria. An extended fuzzy SECA (Simultaneous Evaluation of Criteria and Alternatives) integrated with SMART (Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique), named F-SECA, is proposed to deal with the evaluation process. The α-cut approach is used to consider different levels of uncertainty and obtain interval values for assessment of criteria and alternatives. The proposed methodology helps us to make the evaluation with incorporation of subjective and objective data, opinions of multiple experts and uncertainty of information. We applied the methodology to evaluate sustainable e-waste management scenarios in a case. Through comparative and sensitivity analyses, the paper shows that the proposed methodology is efficient and gives reliable results.

A Fuzzy Simultaneous Evaluation of Criteria and Alternatives (F-SECA) for Sustainable E-Waste Scenario Management

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has proved itself to be the most disastrous global phenomenon for economies and societies all across the world. Therefore, keeping this under consideration, this study explores the effectiveness of the fiscal and monetary policies for economic development in the post-COVID period, based on a sample of the BRICS-T countries, over the time period pertaining to 2015Q1-2021Q2. For the empirical investigation, the study has employed the ARDL-PMG approach. The empirical findings of the study have revealed that the fiscal policy effectively contributed towards the economic development in the time duration of the COVID pandemic thus far. However, the COVID-19 pandemic shocks have also resulted in the deterioration of economic development. Our empirical results also put forth critical policy implications. Therefore, in the post-pandemic period, expedient fiscal and monetary policies are requisites in order to achieve sustainable economic development.

Sustainable waste electrical and electronic equipment management guide in emerging economies context: A structural model approach

The study examines the country’s competitive advantage variations due to fiscal stimulus allocated for COVID-19 by the G-20 governments. It predicts that G-20 countries that are more likely to attract future investments from global firms will improve their trade share in the post-COVID-19 scenario. The study uses the growth-share matrix and 4E (entrenching, empowering, enterprising, enriching) framework. Findings indicate that Japan, the USA, India, Australia, and Canada have allocated significantly large stimulus as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) compared to their world trade share. It is likely to provide them with a competitive advantage in the future. The findings further reveal that the Governments have significantly allocated the stimulus to four sectors, that is, health, social security, industry and construction, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In the post-COVID-19 scenario, global firms may seek market entry or expansion strategies in these sectors in the nations mentioned above.
