A system and method for providing promotional rewards is provided. First, a promotional reward is communicated to a customer. The promotional reward offer comprises a promotional reward associated with one or more promotional reward-earning behaviors and a promotional time frame. The offer may specify a customer population, and the customer may be enrolled in the promotional reward program if the customer is determined to be in the population. The customer is credited a promotional reward if the customer accomplishes the promotional reward-earning behavior(s) within the promotional time frame. The customer may also be enrolled in a base reward program. The promotional rewards and base rewards may be accumulated in a customer account. A method of issuing a purchase card is provided. The method includes the steps of presenting a purchaser with the opportunity to buy the purchase card, determining whether the purchaser has sufficient funds to pay for the purchase card, creating a purchase card account for a recipient designated by the purchaser, and issuing the purchase card. The purchase card may also be issued in connection with another credit card, for example as a rebate for purchases on the credit card. The purchase card may also be converted to a credit card.

The SNAP MOBILE PAYMENT APPARATUSES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS ("SNAP") transform real-time-generated merchant-product Quick Response codes via SNAP components into virtual wallet card-based transaction purchase notifications. In one embodiment, the SNAP obtains a snapshot of a QR code presented on a display screen of a point-of-sale device from a mobile device. The SNAP decodes the QR code to obtain product information included in a checkout request of the user, and merchant information for processing a user purchase transaction with a merchant providing the QR code. The SNAP accesses a user virtual wallet to obtain user account information to process the user purchase transaction with the merchant. Using the product information, merchant information and user account information, the SNAP generates a card authorization request, and which the SNAP provides to a payment network for transaction processing. Also, the SNAP obtains a purchase receipt confirming processing of the user purchase transaction.

Snap mobile payment apparatuses, methods and systems

A method is provided for protecting a payment instrument in non-face-to-face transactions. The payment instrument is issued by an issuing entity and associated with an authorized instrument holder. The authorized instrument holder is subject to authentication by a trusted third party with whom the payment instrument holder has previously registered. The method includes: the authorized instrument holder communicating with the issuing entity to block, on a default basis, authorization of the payment instrument for non-face-to-face transactions unless authorized to unblock the payment instrument by the trusted third party; prior to a non-face-to-face transaction, the authorized instrument holder communicating with the trusted third party to subject him or herself to authentication and to request that the payment instrument be unblocked; and the trusted third party authenticating the authorized instrument holder, and if the authentication result is positive, communicating with the issuing entity to request unblocking of the payment instrument.
