A semiconductor ring laser gyro includes: a semiconductor laser for emitting light from each end of the gyro; at least one reflection prism comprising a plurality of reflection surfaces for forming an optical circuit, the at least one reflection prism adapted to receive and internally reflect the light emitted from the semiconductor laser; a transmissive mirror disposed at one of the plurality of reflection surfaces of the at least one reflection prism and adapted to transmit part of the light traveling clockwise and part of the light traveling counterclockwise through the optical circuit; and a beam multiplexing prism for multiplexing the light transmitted through the transmissive mirror.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring laser gyro having improved bias stability, with the notice of the variation of beam intensity is focused. SOLUTION: In the ring laser gyro that includes a dither mechanism for angularly oscillating the a gyro block, a laser beam is oscillated and propagated in both directions in a ring-shaped optical path in the gyro block; the oscillation frequency difference of two laser beams is generated by an angular velocity input, and an interference fringe generated by the superposition of the two laser beams is detected by a photodetector to detect the angular velocity, the ring laser gyro includes: a light intensity detector for detecting the beam intensity of the laser beam; a beam intensity time differential operating section for time-differentiating the beam intensity detected by the light intensity detector; and a beam intensity correction operating part, to which the beam intensity detected by the light intensity detector, the beam intensity time differential value operated by the beam intensity time differential operation part, and the angular velocity detected by the photodetector are input and which outputs the corrected angular velocity, after the correction operation is performed. Ring laser gyro

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect a fringe pattern and to monitor an output level, by using a photodiode to be split into four segments for each axis of a three-axis ring laser gyroscope, synthesizing the outputs from the segments and using proper electric circuits. CONSTITUTION: A photodiode 28 having segments F1-F4 is arranged in parallel with fringes, and the outputs of the segments F1-F4 are connected to the corresponding inputs of photoelectric current amplifiers PA1-PA4. The outputs of the amplifiers PA1 and PA3 are sent to a differential amplifier DA1, and the outputs of the amplifiers PA2 and PA4 are sent to the input of a differential amplifier DA2. And the outputs of the amplifiers PA2 and DA2 are sent to voltage comparators VC1 and VC2 respectively. The amplifiers DA1 and DA2 measure the output signal difference of respective pairs of photoelectric current amplifiers and give the difference signals to the comparators VC1 and VC2, and the comparators operate as analog-to-digital voltage converters which sent logic signals to a flip-flop 32. Consequently, the output of this part of the circuit can give a magnitude obtained at A and the direction of a fringe pattern displayed at Q.
