A vehicle has self-contained, stand-alone flexible displays in a wide variety of locations and serving a wide variety or purposes, such as entertainment, safety warnings, operating instructions, maps, vehicle information, etc. The displays may be positioned on a vehicle interior component having a contoured surface profile, or may be movable from a generally concealed storage position to an extended position. The display may be rolled like a scroll in a storage position. The displays may show a single picture, multiple pictures on sequential frames, interactive videos, etc. and may include audio information, touch screen switches, etc.

The invention relates to a compartment device 11 for a passenger cabin 10 of a motor vehicle, comprising a compartment (14, figure 1) which is at least partly open in the direction of the passenger cabin, and a cover device 24 which is capable of being moved between a closed position covering the compartment and an open position uncovering the compartment, wherein on a side of the cover device facing the passenger cabin a display device 26 is arranged. The cover may comprise a roller shutter and the display device may be correspondingly flexibly deformable. The display device may be a touch sensitive screen, and a camera may be provided in the compartment for displaying on the screen articles present in the compartment. Touch sensitive actuation devices 30-34 may be displayed in the same position regardless of the position of the cover.

The device has a flexible membranous flat screen (4) e.g. organic LED screen, for supporting reversible deformations. The screen is of less thickness and is plated at the level of a curved part of a dashboard. The screen`s edge is integrated on a support (10) to roll the screen around the support, in a storage position, mounted in a protecting case. The support is slightly rotated around its longitudinal axis when the screen is in its utilization position. The support is rotated outside housing at an angle of about 90 degrees with respect to a longitudinal direction of an armrest.
