A method for making a rapid prototype of a patient's mouth to be used in the design and fabrication of a dental prosthesis. The method takes an impression of a mouth including a first installation site having a dental implant installed in the first installation site and a gingival healing abutment having at least one informational marker attached to the dental implant. A stone model is prepared based on the impression, including teeth models and model markers indicative of the at least one informational marker. The model is scanned. Scan data is generated from the scanning. The scan data is transferred to a CAD program. A three-dimensional model of the installation site is created in the CAD program. The at least one informational marker is determined to gather information for manufacturing the rapid prototype. Rapid prototype dimensional information is developed. The rapid prototype dimensional information is transferred to a rapid prototyping machine which fabricate a rapid prototype of the patient's dentition as well as a dental implant analog position.

Method for manufacturing dental implant components

A method of placing a dental implant analog in a physical model for use in creating a dental prosthesis is provided. The physical model, which is usually based on an impression of the patient's mouth or a scan of the patient's mouth, is prepared. The model is scanned. A three-dimensional computer model of the physical model is created and is used to develop the location of the dental implant. A robot then modifies the physical model to create an opening for the implant analog. The robot then places the implant analog within the opening at the location dictated by the three-dimensional computer model.

Methods for placing an implant analog in a physical model of the patient's mouth

A fiber-optic laser comprising a birefringent optic fiber possessing a Bragg grating at each of its ends,. A light source emits a light beam having two modes of polarization in the fiber. The birefringence of the fiber makes it possible to keep the two polarization modes separate. The wave emitted by the fiber is then polarized linearly along P1. Linearly polarized fiber-optic laser

The fibre laser is pumped by an optical wave and is linearly polarised. The laser includes a birefractive optical fibre (F). At each end, this fibre has a photo-inscribed Bragg network (R1,R2). The optical fibre has a very high birefraction, greater than 10 . The fibre provides two orthogonal modes of polarisation. The two Bragg networks are arranged such that sufficient separation is provided between the resonance peaks of the Bragg wavelengths corresponding to the two modes of polarisation. Preferably, the average Bragg wavelength of the two networks are calculated such that the Bragg wavelengths of the two networks only coincide for the same mode of polarisation.

Linear-polarization fiber laser

In photosensitising an optical waveguide made from aluminosilicate for the purpose of writing a Bragg array thereon, the waveguide is hydrogenated by diffusion of molecular hydrogen at high pressure (100-1000 bars), the aluminosilicate being doped with rare earth ions eg Ce 3+ or Tb 3+ . The waveguide is written by exposure to UV radiation using a pulsed laser at a wavelength of 240-245nm.
