A system and method are disclosed for delivering content customized to the specific user or users interacting with the system. The system includes one or more modules for recognizing an identity of a user. These modules may include for example a gesture recognition engine, a facial recognition engine, a body language recognition engine and a voice recognition engine. The user may also be carrying a mobile device such as a smart phone which identifies the user. One or more of these modules may cooperate to identify a user, and then customize the user's content based on the user's identity. In particular, the system receives user preferences indicating the content a user wishes to receive and the conditions under which it is to be received. Based on the user preferences and recognition of a user identity and/or other traits, the system presents content customized for a particular user.

The personalized media content may include a composition of a background scene having a character, head model data representing an individualized three-dimensional (3D) head model of a user, audio data simulating the user's voice, and a viseme track containing instructions for causing the individualized 3D head model to lip sync the words contained in the audio data. The audio data simulating the user's voice can be generated using a voice transformation process. In certain examples, the audio data is based on a text input or selected by the user (e.g., via a telephone or computer) or a textual dialogue of a background character.

In one example, a blend fit head model is created from a weighted combination of multiple basis head models after comparing a face image of the individual with the basis head models. The blend fit model can be deformed to approximate the individual's facial and/or head geometry. The method may include associating an animation rig with the 3D head model. In certain examples, head models are used to create media content having at least a first layer with at least one background character and a second layer with a head model, alignment information, and lighting information such that a head of the background character is replaced and/or overlaid by the head model. A head model can also be automatically selected for inclusion in an interactive advertisement based on the viewer's profile or preferences.
