Influenza-Associated Deaths among Children in the United States, 2003–2004

TL;DR: A substantial number of influenza-associated deaths occurred among U.S. children during the 2003-2004 influenza season, and high priority should be given to improvements in influenza-vaccine coverage and improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of influenza to reduce childhood mortality from influenza.

TL;DR: The high seroprevalence of schistosomiasis and strongyloidiasis among Sudanese Lost Boys and Girls and Somali Bantu refugees supports presumptive treatment for these refugees and supports consideration of predeparture presumptive therapy for all refugees from areas of endemicity.

TL;DR: This report suggests that overseas medical screening results in a low frequency (0.4%) of inadmissible medical conditions in the United States, and the EDN system provides more direct notifications to health departments than the previous paper-based system about newly arriving immigrants and refugees who need medical follow-up.
