TL;DR: A substantial number of influenza-associated deaths occurred among U.S. children during the 2003-2004 influenza season, and high priority should be given to improvements in influenza-vaccine coverage and improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of influenza to reduce childhood mortality from influenza.

TL;DR: This report suggests that overseas medical screening results in a low frequency (0.4%) of inadmissible medical conditions in the United States, and the EDN system provides more direct notifications to health departments than the previous paper-based system about newly arriving immigrants and refugees who need medical follow-up.
