The purpose of present study is to expose the detailed review for benefits and challenges about implementation of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) in business organization and spread of LSS literature in term of various sectors wise, research methodology wise and journal wise.,This paper covers the literature on LSS from 2000 to 2018. The authors have selected a large number of research papers using the keywords as Lean Six Sigma implementation in automotive, micro small medium enterprises, health care, education, financial sectors and many more. A total of 216 research papers have been reviewed on LSS distribution of sector wise, research methodology adopted, active countries, year of publication and critical barriers in implementation of LSS.,The present literature classifies the spread of LSS in four important sectors of manufacturing, health care, human resource, financial and education. It presents the critical barriers and benefits of LSS implementation in various sectors mentioned above and an important research gap, where practitioner/researcher can focus more during their research on LSS.,It is important for industry, researchers and LSS practitioners to be aware about challenges and success factor during LSS implementation in various sectors such as manufacturing, education, financial, human resource and health care. Hence, this paper could provide significant and valuable insights to industry and practitioners for successful implementation of LSS projects.,LSS results in reduced waste, defects and improve process, which in turn provide high-quality products at minimum cost, and this leads to customer delight, which ultimately raises the societal living standard. The results encourage LSS practices without fear because there is a huge discussion of near about all success and failure parameters about LSS.,To the authors’ best knowledge, no studies have still covered the literature review of LSS implementation in three different sectors: manufacturing, service and process. The present study was mainly focused on presenting a systematic review of literature in said sectors and found the gap between current status and future direction for the implementation of LSS in different areas.

A structured review of Lean Six Sigma in various industrial sectors

A l’image des grands groupes, les PME souhaitent, elles aussi, profiter des methodes modernes de management pour ameliorer leurs processus, leurs performances et leur competitivite. L’interet du secteur des PME se porte sur les elements du concept Lean Six Sigma qui leur semblent appropries pour realiser ces objectifs. Apres avoir constate une lacune dans les recherches sur ce sujet et une lacune methodologique concernant l’implementation du LSS dans les PME, nous proposons une methodologie de conception, d’application et de controle du LSS pour ces PME, que nous avons appelee LSS Plutus. Elle est dediee aux PME de la production et elle prend en compte leur specificite. Dans ce but, nous avons restreint la boite a outils traditionnelle du LSS utilisee dans les grands groupes. Nous avons egalement cree deux variantes pour mettre en œuvre notre methodologie qui correspondent aux besoins, capacites et maturites differents des PME. Nous avons elabore des indicateurs, des outils, ainsi qu’un guide d’application de la methode LSS pour les PME de la production et sa version informatique en TIBCO. Nous avons decide de renforcer l’efficience des ameliorations, en deployant les actions de planification, de standardisation et de perennisation des changements. Dans ce but, nous proposons de modifier les criteres du Modele d’Excellence E.F.Q.M. pour qu’elles puissent prendre en compte les conditions de fonctionnement de la methode LSS dans les PME. La methodologie proposee a ete verifiee dans deux PME de la production en Pologne et en France, ce qui a confirme son utilite et son efficacite en termes d’amelioration des performances et de developpement des organisations

Contribution à l’implantation de la méthode Lean Six Sigma dans les Petites et Moyennes Entreprises pour l’amélioration des processus

Lean Manufacturing has been traditionally associated with manufacturing industries; lately many service industries have adopted the methodology with the aim to improve their processes and customer satisfaction. This study seeks to explore whether implementing Lean manufacturing principles in service sector is feasible or viable and if those organisations that have implemented these principles have gained from utilizing the methodology. Qualitative research was conducted to assess service organisations that have implemented lean manufacturing principles and the study revealed that although the methodology was designed for manufacturing industries; service industries could implement lean principles and gain organisational competitiveness and customer satisfaction.

Lean in Service Industry

Computer manufacturers have been applying Six Sigma for continuous quality improvement and Lean Manufacturing for reducing process waste in order to maximally meet customer requirements. However, top computer manufacturers are now realizing the design and production with advanced capability for early failure detection, fault diagnostic and prediction will significantly improve product life cycle performance and increase competitive advantages. In this paper, prognostic health management is proposed as a “predictive” management strategy centered by technology approach. Through integration with Lean Six Sigma, a raised computer manufacturing management performance can be achieved.

Improving computer manufacturing management through Lean Six Sigma and PHM

The many activities that fall in the domain of test can be modeled as processes and thus can benefit from the discipline of process improvement. Process improvement is itself a process that helps organizations deliver better product, more quickly, at a competitive price. The methods of process improvement are themselves evolving. Two major schools of process improvement of the 1990' s, Six-Sigma1 and Lean Manufacturing, are merging to a unified methodology to gain the advantages of each school. This paper overviews concepts and tools from each school. This paper also contains methods and tools from the Training-Within-Industry (TWI) Service training program, which provides a training foundation for present day Lean Six-Sigma process improvement.
