Journal ArticleDOI

New mechanistic aspects of methanol oxidation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the yields of different products at 0.6 V using smooth polycrystalline and Pt(1.1) electrodes and found that strong adsorption of sulfate hinders methanol oxidation by inhibiting the dissociative steps where the adsorbed CO intermediate is formed.
Journal ArticleDOI

New insight into the pathways of methanol oxidation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the performance of parallel pathways during methanol oxidation at Pt(1.1/1) 1 and showed that the mechanism of the parallel pathway is sensitive to the nature of the supporting electrolyte.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanism of Stationary Bulk CO Oxidation on Pt(111) Electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, a change of the (2 × 2)-3CO overlayer, formed by admitting CO at 0.05 V, into a (√19 × √19)-13CO structure was observed at around 0.4 V.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of FTIRS data and thermal effects during methanol oxidation on UHV-cleaned PtRu alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, spectroscopic data on methanol oxidation at PtRu alloys were presented, showing the different behavior of 85:15 and 50:50 alloys towards the reaction pathway involving adsorbed CO.
Journal ArticleDOI

Catalysis of formaldehyde oxidation by electrodeposits of PtRu

TL;DR: In this article, a strong adsorption of formaldehyde in acid solutions occurs on polycrystalline Pt at a potential of 0.05-V vs RHE, and the main oxidation product is CO 2.
