Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Low Concentrations of Carbon Dioxide on Photosynthesis Rates of Two Races of Oxyria.

TL;DR: Alpine plants of Oxyria digyna have higher apparent photosynthesis rates at various carbon dioxide concentrations than arctic, sea-level plants of the same species, which may be involved in the survival of plants at high elevations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photosynthesis and Respiration Rates of Rocky Mountain Alpine Plants Under Field Conditions

TL;DR: Field measurements of photosynthesis and respiration rates of whole alpine plants in situ were made at an elevation of 3,307 m in the Medicine Bow Mountains, Wyoming, using an infrared gas analyzer, showing a midday depression in net photosynthesis; this may be due to high leaf temperatures under intense solar radiation.
