In this paper a low cost and user friendly remote controlled home automation system is presented using Arduino board, Bluetooth module, smartphone, ultrasonic sensor and moisture sensor. A smartphone application is used in the suggested system which allows the users to control up to 18 devices including home appliances and sensors using Bluetooth technology. Nowadays, most of conventional home automation systems are designed for special purposes while proposed system is a general purpose home automation system. Which can easily be implement in existing home. The suggested system has more features than conventional home automation systems such as an ultrasonic sensor is used for water level detection and soil moisture sensor is use for automatic plant irrigation system. This paper also describes the hardware and software architecture of system, future work and scope. The proposed prototype of home automation system is implemented and tested on hardware and it gave the exact and expected results.

Smart home automation system using Bluetooth technology

In this era of digitization and automation, the life of human beings is getting simpler as almost everything is automatic, replacing the old manual systems. Nowadays humans have made internet an integral part of their everyday life without which they are helpless. Internet of things (iot) provides a platform that allows devices to connect, sensed and controlled remotely across a network infrastructure. In this paper we focus on home automation using smart phone and computer. The iot devices controls and monitors the electronic electrical and the mechanical systems used in various types of buildings. The devices connected to the cloud server are controlled by a single admin which facilitate a number of users to which a number of sensor and control nodes are connected. The admin can access and control all the nodes connected to each user but a single user can control only the nodes to which the user itself is connected. This whole system using Internet of Things (iot) will allow mobile devices and computers to remotely control all the functions and features of home appliances from anywhere around the world using the internet connection. The system designed is economical and can be expanded as it allows connection and controlling of a number of different devices.

An ethical framework for big data and smart cities

With an exponential advancement of automation technology, the future of manual systems are changing into automatic systems for various benefits. Also, internet has become an integral part of one's life where Internet of Things (IoT) is the latest and emerging internet technology that has changed the way one looks at things. Internet of things is developing everyday from small scale machines to large scale machines that can share data and accomplish tasks while individuals are occupied with other activities. The main aim of the paper is to design a smart home automation system using IoT, that is to turn a customary home to a smart home for accessing and controlling devices and appliances remotely using Android based Smart phone app. To be specific, we aim to design a low cost, extensible, flexible wireless smart home automation system using IoT which employs the integration of wireless communication, cloud networking to provide users to control a variety of devices from remote locations by providing an user friendly interface and ease of installation. This paper presents the design of smart home automation framework that utilizes the combination of cloud networking and wireless communication, to remote control various electrical appliances (like lights, fans), to users within their home using a smart phone. The system will automatically control appliances on the basis of sensors' data by constantly monitoring the home environment and storing sensor data onto the cloud. To exhibit the possibility and adequacy of our framework, electrical appliances (like lights, fans) and sensors have been incorporated within the proposed home control system.

Customary homes to smart homes using Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile application

Availability of high speed mobile networks like 3G and Long Term Evolution(LTE) coupled with cheaper and accessible smart phones, mobile industry has seen a tremendous growth in terms of providing various services and applications at the finger tips of the citizens. Internet of Things(IoT) is one of the promising technologies which can be used for connecting, controlling and managing intelligent objects which are connected to Internet through an IP address. Applications ranging from smart governance, smart education, smart agriculture, smart health care, smart homes etc can use IoT for effective delivery of services with out manual intervention in a more effective manner. This paper discusses about IoT and how it can be used for realizing smart home automation using a micro-controller based Arduino board and Android mobile app. In this paper, two prototypes namely home automation using Bluetooth in an indoor environment and home automation using Ethernet in an outdoor environment are presented.

Mobile based home automation using Internet of Things(IoT)

As technology progresses, understanding online learner's behavior is the key for successful implementation of digital learning. The more we know about learners, the more tailored learning experiences will be. Analyzing the learner's preferences will help to predict the behavior of learner's so that required support and guidance can be provided on time. For achieving this much more efficient systems are required to process all types of the learner interactions with the learning management system during their each learning activity. This paper discusses the importance of learning analytics, and presents its usage in eLearning. It describes how learning analytics can help the learners, instructors and institutions to look into ongoing learning processes and how the online educational processes can be improved. It also depicts about the proposed system how the learning styles can be used for improving learning experience.

Improvisation of learning experience using learning analytics in eLearning

According to RTE Act 2009/2010 in India, free and compulsory education has to be provided for children of age 6 to 14 years. There are several implementation challenges for providing inclusive education to all specially for slow learners, children with learning disabilities, children with mental retardation and having multiple disabilities. Although some ICT based tools are developed for children with visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical challenges, little efforts were put for providing education to children with mental retardation. Providing education to mentally retarded children is a big challenge, because special educators need to assess child's Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and functional ability in order to plan educational activities personalized to his individual needs and capabilities. In order to understand child's functional capabilities, standard assessment tools like Functional Assessment Checklist Programming (FACP), Grade Level Assessment Device (GLAD), Madras development programming system (MDPS), Aarambh needs to be used. In general, special educators need to assess child's functional level in order to plan his/her Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Special educators spend considerable amount of their time for preparing assessment reports which is a time consuming process. Also, the details captured using assessment tools is not available in the electronic form. This paper discusses the challenges faced by special educators in this regard and proposes an ICT based educational assessment framework for planning and executing individualized education for children with mild mental retardation. It explains various interfaces that can be provided through this framework to parents and special educators for assessing, planning, teaching and measuring child's progress.
