Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra from a Crystal rotated at High Speed

E. R. Andrew, +2 more
- 13 Dec 1958 -
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that when these weak side-spectra are included the second moment does indeed remain invariant even though the second moments of the central portion, which is all that is observed experimentally, becomes smaller.
Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of Dipolar Broadening of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra of Solids by Specimen Rotation

E. R. Andrew, +2 more
- 01 Jun 1959 -
TL;DR: In this article, the angular factor of a solid rotating about an axis making an angle α with the applied field is expressed as the sum of its mean value, where α is the angle between the internuclear vector and the axis of rotation, and ωr is the angular frequency of rotation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fine Structure of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra of Solids: Chemical Shift Structure of the Spectrum of Phosphorus Pentachloride

TL;DR: The static dipolar interaction between the nuclei in a solid causes its nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum to be much broader than that of a liquid as discussed by the authors, often revealing a fine structure originating from the different chemical shifts of the nucleus, and from their indirect spin-spin interactions.
