The invention provides a coated electrode for producing a nickel-base weld deposit containing at least 12 weight percent chromium. The coated electrode includes a flux surrounding the core wire. The flux includes in parts by weight 5 to 35 strontium carbonate, 5 to 35 total metal carbonate compound, 0 to 20 manganese with at least 5 manganese present when less than 0.5 weight percent manganese is present in the core wire, 10 to 40 fluoride compound and 5 to 45 oxide compound. A binder is used to hold the flux to the core wire.

Flux for coated welding electrode

A wire preform suitable for use in brazing components to one another. The preform is made from a length of wire having a core of flux material, and a longitudinal seam or gap that extends over the length of the wire. The seam is formed so that when heated, the flux material flows from the core and out of the seam. The length of wire is in the form of a loop having a certain circumference so that when the preform is heated, the flux material disperses uniformly from the circumference of the preform for evenly treating the surface of a component on which the preform is placed. The length of wire may include a silver alloy.

Flux cored preforms for brazing

A flux coated brazing material wherein the flux coating composition is suitable for continuously coating a continuous length of brazing material. Aspects include a flux coating composition for coating or coring a brazing material useful as a flux coating for preparing a continuous length brazing material according to the described method.

A wire (10) for use in a brazing or soldering operation has an elongated body (12) of a metallic material. The elongated body (12) has an outer surface (18). A channel (14) is formed along a length of the body. The channel (14) has an opening (A1). A flux solution (22) is deposited within the channel (14) and along the length of the body. The flux solution (22) covers a portion of the outer surface (18). A portion of the flux solution (22) is exposed through the opening (A1) in the channel (14).

Filler metal with flux for brazing and soldering and method of making and using same

A welding system is provided which can weld in narrow gap thick walled work pieces, the welding system having a magnetic field unit which contains a magnetic coil, a magnetic field probe, and a shielding gas tube and nozzle. The unit having a shape and configuration which delivers the shielding gas and magnetic field close to the welding arc so as to provide for a shielded welding arc which is manipulated as desired by the magnetic field.
