Mathematical Investigation for Flow Characteristics of Laminar Ferro-Nanofluid Incorporating Cobalt Ferrite Nanoparticles

Investigation of nanofluid properties around a cylinder is carried out for laminar steady-state axisymmetric flow. This study focuses on the porous medium with the existence of laminar and incompressible Newtonian nanofluid in two dimensions and develops an alternative model to avoid the single-phase model limitations considering the influence of Brownian motion and thermophoresis parameter for the nonhomogeneous nanofluid on permeable cylinders. Employing group method and similarity transformation, the governing mathematical model was transformed into a simpler system of ordinary differential equations. The system of equations is numerically computed. The numerical investigation included different governing parameters namely: Prandtl number Pr, thermophoresis parameter Nt, Brownian motion parameter Nb, Reynolds number Re, and Schmidt number, Sc. Studying these parameters helps to obtain the characteristic of the flow and heat transfer. The numerical examination is illustrated in graphs to examine their effect on different fluid characteristics. Increasing Pr hurdles the nanofluid velocity, temperature, and nanoparticles concentration, while it increases the pressure due to the viscosity increment. Moreover, increasing Nt activates the thermal energy of the nanofluid which in turn increases velocity, temperature distribution, and nanoparticles concentration. A comparison between the obtained results and the previously published results indicated an excellent agreement. 

Axisymmetric forced flow of nonhomogeneous nanofluid over heated permeable cylinders

Hybrid nanofluid becomes a fascinating research topic due to its thermophysical properties and stability which provide better performance compared to typical nanofluids. Two-phase model for mixed convection magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow was investigated incorporating hybrid nanoparticles of Alumina (Al2O3) and Copper (Cu) while the base fluid is water (Cu-Al2O3/water). Three parameters group transformation method (GTM) was employed to transform the mathematical model into a simpler system. The analysis included the effect of magnetic parameter, permeability coefficient, nanoparticle shape factor, temperature ratio, radiation parameter, nanoparticles fraction ratio, Brownian parameter, thermophoresis parameter and Nusselt, Reynold, Prandtl and Sherwood numbers relations. The results showed that the fluid velocity and shear stress were more sensitive to the change of magnetic parameter, M, Prandtl number, Pr, and permeability coefficient, kp∗. Moreover, the temperature distribution and the heat flux inside the boundary layer were more sensitive to changing Pr, radiation parameter, Nr, and nanoparticles relative ratio, Nf, while it was less sensitive to changing M. Nusselt–Reynolds number, NuRe−12, reached its highest value 242.7 at Pr=13 then 28.11 at M=1 and kp∗=0.0005. Sherwood–Reynolds number, NuSh−12, scored its highest value 83.68 at Pr=13 then 11.03 at temperature ratio difference, Tr, of 10 and kp∗=0.00005. 

Performance of hybrid two-phase nanofluid neighboring to permeable plates exposed to elevated temperatures

Newtonian steady state flow of fluids with electrical conduction properties was examined adjacent to a moving heated vertical plate subjected to a magnetic field and a heat source/sink. The impact of magnetic parameter, Prandtl number, permeability coefficient, heat source/sink volumetric rate and temperature difference between heated plate and ambient temperature. A reduced system of ODEs was created via group similarity method. The solution led to some important results. Increasing permeability coefficient of the plate material resulted in a significant increase in flow velocity and a slight increase in heat flux but the magnitude of shear stress and temperature distribution decreased. Moreover, increasing the magnetic parameter, M, led to a significant decrease in velocity and a decrease in heat flux, whereas shear stress and temperature distribution increased. Furthermore, increasing Prandtl number, Pr, reduced the velocity significantly and the heat flux slightly. On the other hand, the magnitude of shear stress and temperature distribution increased. In case of using heat source, the increase in its energy rate decreased the heat flux with no significant effect on shear stress. Finally, the increment of temperature difference led to noticeable increase in velocity and a slight increase in heat flux, whereas the shear stress decreased.

COVID-19-related shutdowns have significantly impacted the electrical grid operation worldwide, as governments put strict measures in place to manage the global pandemic. The global electrical demand plummeted around the planet in March, April, and May 2020, with countries such as Spain and Italy experiencing more than 20% decrease in their usual electric consumption. On the other hand, countries like Canada experienced unusually high summer peaks due to the increase in demand for the residential HVAC systems. Electricity network operators are facing unprecedented challenges in scheduling energy resources;for example, energy forecasting systems struggle to provide an accurate demand prediction given massive changes in patterns of electricity consumption induced by COVID-19 restrictions.
