The present invention provides a scratch masking coating system for glass containers such as bottles that is adaptable to a variety of bottle surface and application conditions. The scratch masking coating is applied as an oil in water emulsion which provides flexibility in handling and application techniques while minimizing handling problems. In the present invention, the oil in water emulsion is treated with an emulsion breaker or destabilizer so that the emulsion is destabilized or broken after application to the surface to be treated. The destabilization or breaking is instigated by the addition of an emulsion breaker or heat to the emulsion in sufficient quantity to provide the desired break time.

Scratch masking coating for glass containers

Coating composition for glass containers

The invention relates to a joint sealant consisting of the following: an acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer with 2 to 8 C-atoms in the alcohol component as a binder; fatty substances as plasticisers; fillers and auxiliary agents. Epoxy stearic acid methyl esters in particular can be used as fatty substances and the acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer can take the form of especially a butyl acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer. The elasticity (ability to recover) of the inventive joint sealants is considerably improved as a result of the combination of the two materials and they are therefore especially suited to substrates with different heat expansion coefficients.

A corrosion protection composition that is advantageously unobjectionable from a health risk point of view and not easily flammable, for the economic production of anticorrosion coatings on metal workpieces, in particular, workpieces made of cast iron or steel, for the period of their storage and transport until the workpieces are installed, is composed of a solution of a mineral wax mixture in a liquid monocarboxylic acid ester. The composition includes from about 5 to about 10 parts by weight of a mineral wax mixture which has a molecular weight ranging between about 400 and about 600, and from about 70 to about 85 parts by weight of at least one liquid monocarboxylic acid ester which has a boiling point above 340° C., and, optionally, additives such as antioxidants, antiozonants, antiaging agents, corrosion inhibitors, light stabilizers, and/or wetting agents. The corrosion protection composition, when heated, forms a clear, low-viscosity solution and, after being applied to the workpiece and cooled, forms a coating having viscous consistency which ranges from salve-like to pasty. The coatings are well suited to provide corrosion protection for, for example, piston rings or other sealing rings for internal-combustion engines.

PURPOSE: To provide a coating compsn. which is excellent in hiding effect and water resistance and can be completely peeled off during the washing of a bottle, by blending liquid paraffin, sorbitan fatty acid ester, higher alcohol fatty acid ester and glycerol fatty acid ester. CONSTITUTION: Liquid paraffin, sorbitan fatty acid ester, higher alcohol fatty acid ester and glycerol fatty acid ester are blended together. If necessary, an appropriate quantity of water is further added thereto. Any of the above three fatty acid esters has an emulsifying action. Liquid paraffin is effective in spreading over the surface of a bottle and increasing an action of penetrating into scratched regions. These fatty acid esters are used in such a proportion that they account for 25W5% of the total quantity of the compsn. PURPOSE: To provide superior dispersibility and work efficiency and to improve the dryability and water resistance after coating by adding liq. paraffin or carnauba wax, sodium polyacrylate and morpholine fatty acid ester. CONSTITUTION: This coating agent has a composition contg. liq. paraffin and/or carnauba wax (A), sodium polyacrylate (B) and morpholine fatty acid ester (C). The coating agent is used as an aqueous dispersion by adding water. The concn. of the component A in the aqueous dispersion is ≤50%, that of the component B is ≤5%, and that of the component C is ≤15%. The component A is a base for hiding the scratched part of a bottle. The component B is a kind of paste for food, and when a bottle is coated with said aqueous dispersion, the component B forms a film and envelops liq. paraffin, so it improves the work efficiency of the coating agent as well as the touch to hands and the water resistance after coating.
