SMILES-X: autonomous molecular compounds characterization for small datasets without descriptors

TL;DR: The SMILES-X as discussed by the authors is an autonomous pipeline for molecular compounds characterisation based on a Embed-Encode-Attend-Predict neural architecture with a data-specific Bayesian hyper-parameters optimisation.

SMILES-X: autonomous molecular compounds characterization for small datasets without descriptors

TL;DR: This article proposes a new method that tackles both the issue of small datasets and the difficulty of task-specific descriptors development, and shows new state-of-the-art results in the inference of aqueous solubility, hydration free energy, and octanol/water distribution coefficient.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trainless model performance estimation based on random weights initialisations for neural architecture search

TL;DR: This article focuses on relationships between the trained accuracy of an architecture and its accuracy prior to training, by considering statistics over multiple initialisations, and observes that minimising the coefficient of variation of the untrained accuracy, C V U, consistently leads to better performing architectures.
