TL;DR: In this paper, conditions of the light confinement by excitation of the trapped mode resonances in certain structures, both polarization-sensitive and polarization-insensitive, were studied, and the existence of a high-order trapped mode resonance with the greater quality factor than that of the lowest one has been shown.

TL;DR: In this article, a planar structure with two dielectric bars with different lengths has been studied and the existence of high Q-factor trapped mode resonances are revealed in these structures, which is very attractive to design resonant periodic planar structures by using moderate refractive index materials within their transparency window.
