Attendance monitoring system is an essential element in all organizations and is considered as an integral part of efficient organizational information systems. Most of the time it so happens that if any stakeholder wants to meet concerned in charge employees they need to take an appointment and then consult them. In situations where meeting becomes inevitable there is no system available to trace them with in the vicinity of the organization. The current research has been undertaken to address this issue, which is to know whereabouts of in charge employees during organizational timings. The proposed system works on RFID technology where in, as the concerned employees enters in the organization vicinity, his RFID will be validated with a check from the organizational database, if he/she is indeed an employee of the respective organization he/she will be allowed to enter into workspace and his attendance will be updated in the respective organizational database. Their status will be displayed on the screens available outside the workspace; apart from it the details will also be updated on cloud and the stakeholders willing to meet their respective personnel can easily see from the respective web-portal and can make an appointment based on their availability.

Secure Smart and Remote Multipurpose Attendance Monitoring System

This paper explores the idea of locating the student’s location within the organization/institute. This is done by using a GPS-based receiver modem attached to ID card of student and using a SQL coded database. Initially, the system is provided with all the coordinates of the places within organization/institute, and these coordinates (latitude, longitude and altitude) are stored in a lookup table (LUT) in the database. When the student with the GPS receiver roams inside the campus, his coordinates are recorded by the GPS modem and sent to the database via Internet (cellular/Wi-Fi network). This coordinates are then compared with the coordinates in the LUT; if the coordinates are matched with any of the contents in LUT, then the system identifies this and knows the location of student; otherwise, the student is considered as out of campus. Any authorized person can access this data, i.e., students’ location at any time by either Web site or the application provided to the person by entering the unique ID number of the person who is to be tracked. Programming the NodeMCU has been developed in C environment with a self-made SQL database and person location data transfer to Internet of things using ThingSpeak software. This ThingSpeak software is used for the development of application.

Person Location Tracking Using Global Positioning System and ESP8266 with Internet of Things

Today, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been included in many researches to form smart environments. IoT is becoming increasingly integrated in our daily life at homes, streets, schools and everywhere. Using IoT based on WSNs in the educational filed is an important resource for better preparing students for the future digital world. Digital students attendance system in schools or universities is an example for case that technology can facilitate the traditional ways for checking students attendance instead of using the manual paper sheets which consume time and resources with higher probability of failure. In literature, there are many time attendance systems that proposed to enhance the manual traditional methods for taking and calculating students attendance in smart ways. In this paper, we proposed a user friendly students time attendance system that can be applicable in different schools or universities in order to form a smart classroom based on WSNs and IoT technologies. We proposed intelligent chairs that can be identified as the sources of information, which integrated with four 50 kg load sensors and HX711 amplifier that measure the students weights and send the digital signals to a receiver in order to recognize the student presence during class schedule. This smart classroom is also installed with one ZKTeco ZK4500 fingerprint reader in order to increase the identification for students. The transmitted signals from the intelligent chairs will be connected by Android application which will be installed on the lecturers’ smart phones. So, teachers will get details and summary report of students attendance through the Android app. We implemented our proposed idea using java language, database and android system.

A Smart Classroom of Wireless Sensor Networks for Students Time Attendance System

Nowadays, the fingerprint scanner widely used to records attendance. However, this technology has a weakness. Much research has done to improve the attendance system by utilizing mobile technology, like usage a fingerprint smartphone and location by GPS sensor to validate user location manually. In this research, we developed an application to enhance the records attendance system with a smartphone by crossing numbers to verify user position automatically, which implemented in a mobile app.  This application using the PNPOLY method for detecting the location of the user inside of the polygon area predetermined. This method is part of the crossing number algorithm for increasing x and fixed y from point P, which x is latitude, and y is a longitude. The result of the experiment demonstrated that the percentage of successful validate user coordinate inside edges of the polygon boundary is 87%, depending on the GPS sensor embedded into a mobile device.

Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) radar is a type of radar functioning based on UWB transmission technology that uses an exceedingly wide bandwidth low power impulse signal to continuously transmitting and receiving the impulse signal for object detection within a range. To date, most of the proposed Ultra-Wideband (UWB) transmission technology based object positioning estimation systems for indoor environment depends on objects to be attached with an active UWB devices. In certain circumstances, it is ideal to track objects in passive manner without the requirement of any attached tracking devices or device-free object positioning estimation. IR-UWB radar has shown promising utilization in realizing device-free object positioning estimation for indoor environment.  With this motivation, in this paper a work on weighted least squares consideration for IR-UWB radar based device-free object positioning estimation for indoor environment is presented.

A weighted least squares consideration for IR-UWB radar based device-free object positioning estimation for indoor environment

Real-time online attendance method is helpful for workers who do a lot of activities outside the office or workers with multi-schedule. The attendance system using online biometric fingerprint system will reduce the problems caused by manual system usage such as lags in data management. The purpose of the research is to constructs an online presence system that combines fingerprint modules and GPS. The ZFM-20 fingerprint module is used as the system's main input as well as a security tool as an entrance to get access to the entire system. GPS module is applied to determine the user's location and sends it to the smartphone. Arduino module in the system will send a text message to the parties concerned about the user's location data automatically. Each module works well and testing the entire system showed the system work reliable according to the initial scenario. The User can access the report using SMS, website, and application on the Android smartphone. The fingerprint sensor can determine the fingerprint stored in the database with an average response time of 1.39 seconds, and GPS can determine latitude and longitude with an average error of 0.007352% and 0.0003% respectively.
