Mortality and morbidity due to ambient air pollution in Iran

Exposure to high levels of PM2.5 and PM10 in the metropolis of Tehran and the associated health risks during 2016–2017

Ozone is a highly oxidative compound and is one of the important pollutants present in the atmosphere and at ground level. Concentration of ground-level ozone (GLO) pollutant depends on different factors such as the amount of VOC and NOX, heat and location in the atmosphere. Ozone can cause health effects such as problems to breathe deeply and vigorously, inflame and damage the airways, bronchitis, reduced lung function in children and adults, emphysema and increase the frequency of asthma attacks. In this work, we focused on the determination of number of hospital admissions associated with ozone in Ahvaz with population of 1 000 000, during 2013. Nonlinear and lagged meteorological effects on daily levels of ambient PM2.5 and O3: Evidence from 284 Chinese cities

Levels of particulate matters in air of the Gonabad city, Iran.

Air pollution is an environmental problem in
urban societies. This study investigated particles
concentration in the atmosphere of Qom city in Iran.
According to the EPA guidelines with Grimm apparatus,
sampling particulate matter was performed for
24 hours with 10 minutes intervals in 4 stations during
2013. The Jar test was also used for dust fall. Descriptive
statistical methods (Mean, standard deviation
and interquartile range). The results show-ed
that the highest mean of PM1 was observed in September-October,
PM2.5 in March-April and PM10 in
May-June, respectively. The mean of PM2.5 and
PM10 were higher than WHO guideline and lower
than NAAQS. The findings showed that there is a
positive relationship between PM10 and temperature
(Pvalue =0.04 & r=0.35), reverse correlation with humidity
(Pvalue =0.001 & r=-0.57) and rainfall (Pvalue
=0.04 & r=-0.35). The results also indicated that a
direct association between dust fall and temperature
(Pvalue =0.014 & r=0.85), and reverse correlation with
humidity (Pvalue =0.03 & r=-0.79) are observable.
Furthermore, total mean of particle matter were
higher than standard concentration. Decreasing
emission from fuel combustion, creating green
space, planning and cooperation of all responsible
organizations can be effective in decreasing the effect
of particulate pollutant on air quality and human
health.

Letter to the Editor: Applications Air Q Model on Estimate Health Effects Exposure to Air Pollutants

Increases trend of mortality and morbidity related to air pollution, have measured by epidemiologic studies (1-3). Quantifying the effects of air pollution on the human health in urban area causes an increasingly critical component in policy discussion (4-6). Air Q model was proved to be a valid and reliable tool to predicts health effects related to criteria  pollutants (particulate matter (PM), ozone (O 3 ), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), and carbon monoxide (CO)), determinate the potential short term effects of air pollution and allows the examination of various scenarios in which emission rates of pollutants are varied (7,8). Air Q software provided by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health (ECEH) (9). Air Q model is based on cohort studies and used to estimates of both attributable average reductions in life-span and numbers of mortality and morbidity associated with exposure to air pollution (10,11).
