Journal ArticleDOI
Antiplasmodial activity of the alkaloids of Peschiera fuchsiaefolia.
TL;DR: The tertiary and quaternary alkaloids isolated from the stem bark, root bark and seeds of Peschiera fuchsiaefolia are reported and the tertiary alkaloid crude extract from the root bark of the same plant is more active than voacamine, and is particularly rich in dimeric alkal steroids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological activities of the plant-derived bisindole voacamine with reference to malaria.
David Ramanitrahasimbola,Philippe Rasoanaivo,S. Ratsimamanga-Urverg,Elena Federici,Giovanna Palazzino,Corrado Galeffi,Marcello Nicoletti +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the in vivo antiplasmodial activity of voacamine was assessed in a 4-day test and it was shown to exhibit in vivo activity with 25.4% and 43.4 % inhibition of parasitaemia with 2.5 and 10 mg/kg, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical fingerprinting of Equisetum arvense L. using HPTLC densitometry and HPLC
Francesca Romana Gallo,Giuseppina Multari,Elena Federici,Giovanna Palazzino,Massimo Giambenedetti,Valentina Petitto,Ferruccio Poli,Marcello Nicoletti +7 more
TL;DR: Empirical studies have shown that the ease of sample preparation and the possibility of simultaneous analysis of several samples in a short time make HPTLC a method of choice for the comprehensive quality evaluation of herbal products.
Book ChapterDOI
The Modern Analytical Determination of Botanicals and Similar Novel Natural Products by the HPTLC Fingerprint Approach
Marcello Nicoletti,Valentina Petitto,Francesca Romana Gallo,Giuseppina Multari,Elena Federici,Giovanna Palazzino +5 more
TL;DR: High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography, the last evolution of planar chromatography, is a reliable candidate for analysis of botanicals and HPTLC can solve several problems in a quicker, simpler and easier method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two prenylated isoflavanones from Millettia pervilleana
Corrado Galeffi,Philippe Rasoanaivo,Elena Federici,Giovanna Palazzino,Marcello Nicoletti,Benoı̂t Rasolondratovo +5 more
TL;DR: From the root bark of Millettia pervilleana, which showed high cytotoxic activity, two prenylated isoflavanones were isolated and were determined by means of chemical and spectroscopic properties to be pervilleanone and its 3′- O -demethyl derivative.
