Annual rates of admission and seasonal variations in hospitalizations for heart failure
Manuel Martínez-Sellés,José A. García Robles,Luis Prieto,José A. Serrano,Roberto Muñoz,Elisa Frades,Jesús Almendral +6 more
TL;DR: To investigate the annual hospitalization rate and seasonal variation in confirmed heart failure (HF) admissions, a large number of patients are referred to the intensive care unit (ICU) each year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systolic dysfunction is a predictor of long term mortality in men but not in women with heart failure.
Manuel Martínez-Sellés,José A. García Robles,Luis Prieto,Marta Domínguez Muñoa,Elisa Frades,Óscar Díaz-Castro,Jesús Almendral +6 more
TL;DR: Survival is similar in women irrespective of LVEF and in men with LveF >0.3 while men with severely depressed LVEFs have a worse prognosis, while women with LVEf =0.2 had a better prognosis than their male counterparts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Características de los pacientes ingresados por insuficiencia cardíaca según el estado de su función ventricular
Manuel Martínez-Sellés,José A. García Robles,Luis Prieto,Elisa Frades,Roberto Muñoz,Óscar Díaz Castro,Jesús Almendral +6 more
TL;DR: Patients admitted with heart failure and systolic dysfunction had a different clinical profile than patients with a normal ejection fraction and were prescribed vasodilators, aspirin, and nitrates more often on discharge.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological treatment in patients with heart failure: patients knowledge and occurrence of polypharmacy, alternative medicine and immunizations.
Manuel Martínez-Sellés,José A. García Robles,Roberto Muñoz,José A. Serrano,Elisa Frades,Marta Domínguez Muñoa,Jesús Almendral +6 more
TL;DR: To evaluate in patients with heart failure (HF) due to systolic dysfunction the occurrence of polypharmacy, alternative medicine, immunization against influenza, and patients’ knowledge about their medication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heart failure in the elderly: age-related differences in clinical profile and mortality
TL;DR: Patients with 76 or more years admitted with HF have a different clinical profile and echocardiography, oral anticoagulation and beta-blockers were underused in these patients, and age was the strongest predictor of long-term mortality.
