Intraperitoneal Oil Application Causes Local Inflammation with Depletion of Resident Peritoneal Macrophages
Elisenda Alsina-Sanchis,Ronja Mülfarth,Iris Moll,Carolin Mogler,Juan Rodriguez-Vita,Andreas Fischer,Andreas Fischer +6 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that it is advisable to deliver lipophilic substances, like tamoxifen, by oral gavage instead of intraperitoneal injection to help to understand some of the undesired effects observed in animal experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intraperitoneal oil application causes local inflammation with depletion of resident peritoneal macrophages
Elisenda Alsina-Sanchis,Ronja Mülfarth,Iris Moll,Carolin Mogler,Juan Rodriguez-Vita,Andreas Fischer,Andreas Fischer +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that olive, peanut, corn or mineral oil causes xanthogranulomatous inflammation with depletion of resident peritoneal macrophages and it is advisable to deliver lipophilic substances like tamoxifen by oral gavage instead of intraperitoneal injection.
