Validating the Portuguese Version of the Satisfaction With Life Scale in an Elderly Sample

TL;DR: In this article, the authors validate the Portuguese version of the Satisfaction With Life Scale via confirmatory factor analysis, with a sample of 1,003 elderly from Angola, and the results shown that the scale had an adequate one-factor confirmatory solution, satisfying reliability indices, and adequate criterion-related validity when assessed in the sample of Angolan elderly.

TL;DR: Test for sociodemographic group differences in perceived health, life satisfaction, and social relations in Angolan elderly found that the oldest old were clearly a group in which the decreased quality of life due to becoming oldest old could not be compensated by other factors, as was the case in the group of young old.
