PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing a Betula platyphylla extract having excellent wrinkle-reducing effect and skin and collagenase activity inhibiting effect is provided. The composition has excellent cell regenerating and collagen formation-promoting effect and stability when blended as a cosmetic and thus can be used as a cosmetic effective in decreasing skin wrinkles. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition contains 0.0001 to 5% by weight of an extract of Betula platyphylla var. japonica(Miquel) Hara, based on the total weight of the composition. The Betula platyphylla extract is obtained by soaking 1 to 15 times in a solvent at 4 to 30deg.C for 3 to 20 days or extracting at 50 to 100deg.C for 3 to 24hr. The solvent is selected from water, C1-4 lower alcohol or a mixed solvent thereof and ethylacetate. Before and after the extraction of the Betula platyphylla, a diethylether soluble component is removed from the extract.

PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing betulin showing collagenase activity inhibiting effect and cell regenerating and collagen formation-promoting effect is provided. Therefore, the composition is effective in decreasing skin wrinkles. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition contains 0.0001 to 3% by weight of betulin, based on the total weight of the composition. For an example, 1kg Betula platyphylla is extracted in 5L ethanol, concentrated and filtered to produce betulin. Then, 0.5% by weight of betulin is mixed with 4.0% by weight of butylene glycol, 8.0% by weight of glycerine, 0.06% by weight of carboxyvinylpolymer, 0.01% by weight of disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, 7.0% by weight of ethanol, 0.2% by weight of triethanolamine, 0.8% by weight of sorbitan monostearate, 0.4% by weight of hydrogenated caster oil, 3.5% by weight of phenyltrimethicone, 0.2% by weight of methyl parahydroxybenzoate, 0.2% by weight of propyl parahydroxybenzoate and remaining distilled water to make 100% by weight.
