Mobile amorphous phase fragility in semi-crystalline polymers: Comparison of PET and PLLA
TL;DR: In this paper, PET and PLLA were cold crystallised at various times and the two polymers were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dielectric spectroscopy (DS) and thermally stimulated depolarisation currents (TSDC) data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water barrier properties in biaxially drawn poly(lactic acid) films.
TL;DR: X-ray analyses confirm that the macromolecular chain orientation in the amorphous phase is the main cause of the improvement of the drawn PLA water barrier property, due to the orthotropic structure formation for sufficient draw ratios, particularly when using the Simultaneous Biaxial drawing mode.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relaxations IN amorphous and semi-crystalline polyesters
TL;DR: In this article, a three phase model with a crystalline part, a rigid amorphous part unable to relax, and an anisotropic phase able to relax at various temperatures depending on the distribution of the relaxation times is used to explain the evolution of the main α relaxation while the standard two-phase model is sufficient to explain variations of the β relaxation mode.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cooperative rearranging region size in semi-crystalline poly(l-lactic acid)
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the crystalline phase on the structural relaxation phenomena occurring in the amorphous phase by characterizing the cooperative rearranging region (CRR) in poly( l -lactic acid), PLLA, a well known biodegradable polyester.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cooperativity length evolution during crystallization of poly(lactic acid)
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of stereoregularity and crystallization mode on the amorphous phase dynamics were investigated for poly(lactic acid) PLA, where an isothermal crystallization from the melt and a cold crystallization are imposed.
