Intercom apparatus having stereo amplifiers adapted for connection to one or more headsets. A plurality of headset output and microphone input connections are provided. Each microphone input includes a separate microphone switch and audio detector whereby only microphone inputs having voice audio thereon are activated. Stereo entertainment and aircraft radio audio inputs are provided. An aircraft radio audio detector is interfaced, along with the various microphone audio detectors, to entertainment partial mute circuitry whereby the presence of a voice or radio audio signal lowers the amplitude of the entertainment input. Microphone and aircraft radio partial mute circuitry are interfaced through a priority selector switch with respective microphone and radio signal detectors. The priority selector switch is a two position, center off arrangement whereby, in one position, aircraft radio signals partially mute microphone signals and in the second position microphone signals partially mute aircraft radio signals. In the center off position no cross muting occurs and the respective signals sum in conventional manner.

Integrated diver face mask and ultrasound underwater voice communication apparatus

A method and a wearable communication system for personal face-to-face and wireless communications in high noise environments are provided. A noise cancellation device (NCD) operably coupled to a wireless coupling device (WCD) includes a speech acquisition unit, an audio signal processing unit, one or more loudspeakers, and a communication module. The NCD receives voice vibrations from user speech via a contact microphone and a second microphone and converts the voice vibrations into an audio signal. The NCD processes the audio signal to remove noise signals and enhance a speech signal contained in the audio signal. A loudspeaker emits the speech signal during face-to-face communication. The NCD transmits the speech signal to a communication device via the WCD and receives an external speech signal from the communication device during wireless communication. With the NCD, the signal intelligibility and signal-to-noise ratio can be improved, for example, from −10 dB to 20 dB.

Wearable Communication System With Noise Cancellation

A voice communication unit is mounted with respect to a full face mask (2) to allow the wearer of the mask to communicate with others. An optical transmitter (10) positioned inside the mask responds to the user's voice to transmit an optical signal through the face lens (4) of the mask. A receiver (30) located outside the mask and optically coupled to the transmitter is responsive to the optical signal and generates a sound corresponding to the user's voice. A timer (11) in the transmitter limits the operating period of the communication unit. The receiver includes volume control circuitry (177) for maintaining the generated sound to a relatively constant level.

Voice communication unit

A speaking and hearing system for respirators, where the apparatus wearer is connected to a respiratory gas supply independent of the ambient air. A suppression, independent of acoustic signals, of the breathing noises of the apparatus wearer is provided by a switch device located in the respiratory gas line which reacts to the respiratory gas stream for the suppression of the breathing noises.

A telephone system for use by divers employing demand breathing apparatus.ounds picked up by each diver's microphone are processed by selective filtering, amplification, rectification and comparison to a reference voltage level to provide logic signals representative of presence or absence of inhalation noise that could mask voice transmissions of other divers or of a tender. The microphone output to listening stations is switched through an attenuation path by the logic signal representing inhalation noise and through a by-pass or full strength path by the other logic signal.

Telephone system for diver communication

The invention is a health monitoring system that determines the spine stress dose value for an individual on a high speed boat. The boat can produce impact injury from whole-body vibration embedded with multiple shocks. The system includes an RFID tag; a GPS; a display; a RFID reader; a multi-axis sensor unit that is an accelerometer which enables the determination of impact, vibration and shock, impact and vibration; and a central data acquisition apparatus. The apparatus includes processors in communication with the GPS, the sensor unit, and the RFID reader. The apparatus samples the RFID reader frequently, confirming the status of all individuals having RFID tags as being onboard or overboard. An application records a GPS location and time if an individual is overboard, and generates a course to the GPS location. The display illustrates a ride roughness graphically, in terms of injury potential at a particular speed and heading.
